  1. Chinese are going to take over the automobile industry for sure. Tesla who was considered ground braking is shying away from the promised small EV and moving to Taxi cars as the competition is too strong. Then comes Chery with this small EV SUV. Looks like a Mini G Class / Jimny but is fully electric.

I think I have got the forum members to discover Sri Lanka more with my status update. Have fun guys, just dont leave polythene and your beer cans up there bring back what you take and lets save the environment. Ideal if you guys could camp out there its a nice experience with the howling winds and constant fear of the tent being ripped apart. The name Hulan Gala doesnt dissappoint.

Should be able to but you will need a spotter. I have seen videos of an old Ignis which had gone up.

Yes they are no more the joke in the automobile world, they are infact taking the established players as jokes. Wonder if things will fall down like what happened to their construction industry with so many players when they cant get much demand.

  6. I was watching a Yangwang U8 struggling to make it up a muddy hill on Youtube. I was wondering why cant an EV be more capable off road than an ICE vehicle. Given the fact that this behemoth has 4 individual motor on each wheel it should be able to direct power to the wheel that has more grip and stop power to the slipping wheel. Cant be rocket science right?

I saw that even the mighty Tesla CT also failed in certain situations. But for a vehicle with a motor on each wheel they should be able to get the computers to work out which wheel needs power (Nissan did it in the 1980s), technology should be pretty advanced now and I feel its a missed opportunity. I was waiting for the thing to easily go up with the 1000hp on tap but no it got stuck.

Moved on to a Rav4 from the Samurai and then I have the stop gap Alto. The idiot who bought the Samurai screwed up the engine by pumping Diesel, thereafter I dont have any info on that car. Recently the previous owner called me from UK and asked me to find the car again as he wants to buy it back.

Come on man, you have ground clearance and bigger tyres, it will just easily go up. Make sure you dont try to rev hard and make a mess out of the road. And post some pics here.

Thats going to burn a huge hole in your pocket. Its true you get too tempted when you find it difficult to save some money. I am drawn towards model cars, RC and watches... very expensive stuff nowadays.

Those days it used to cost something like 30,000 to convert back in the day. No idea now.

Still wondering how in the world Ukraine is going to be paying back for the weapons they have been asking from the EU and NATO. Maybe they could ask Russia to repair the buildings and compensate for the lives and livelihoods lost if Russia loses. But for sure they wont pay for the weapons from the US and the NATO.

  12. WRC is going to ditch the hybrid systems and go pure ICE to reduce costs. They will save on weight and save money building cars making it easier to get into racing. They will however look at full EV rally class later on.

But then the bai logic fellows think that Audi won the Dakar in a full EV whereas it was running a petrol/diesel engine to generate electricity (like on trains and the Nissan ePower system). This does mean that the world of sport is still not ready for EV's.

Not just scammers but sometimes they just reply on certain threads marketing their products. Madz has been working hard to stop and combat these posters and scammers for months.

True, hope he fares better with the idiotic strategy team (Copy we are checking). But then Redbull went even further with the Horner drama and they say Newey will leave to Ferrari if Horner leaves.

  22. Just like our banana republic with organic fertilizer, Ethiopia has become the first country to ban ICE vehicles. The reason just like in us they have a huge Foreign exchange deficit and fuel is very expensive. How will it work out without no infrastructure in place? They claim they get 97% of electricity from renewable methods.

    1. Gummybr

      Gummybr

Thing is iRage, this stinks like the recent fertilizer ban by you know who. People dont think on the long term, if countries like the US, UK and even China cannot cope with the charging requirements with the existing infrastructure how can a country like Sri Lanka or Ethiopia overcome these challenges? The so called experts have so many stories to say about EV. I presume you didnt see the FB live of a so called EV expert in Sri Lanka after the carsguide Australia testing of an EV vs ICE (same make and model) where the EV was more expensive.

      Gummybr

@iRage thing is as you mention most of the so called SUV's do not have good ground clearance and are laden with unwanted body kits and are made for posers.

For some reason the Alto is quite good on ground clearance and wont bottom out if you drive carefully and have a spotter at certain places. Talking of SUV / double cab owners they should understand how to drive up tricky terrain where power is not everything, when I was coming down I could see how much damage the guy who went before me had done to the track where he had tried to power his way through spraying all the big rocks everywhere.

I was very careful with it as I didnt want to get stuck with no ways of getting back home, would have hiked the 2kms easily but was carrying camping equipment and 4 peoples baggage. I had my cousin spotting for me in the hard sections just making sure that I took the correct path and didnt hit anything.
