  1. Ok then here is the next one. Very popular Make and Model in Sri Lanka.
  2. So the vehicle dimensions also fall under kei car dimensions? Interesting how there are ways to exploit even the Japanese regulations.
  3. Oh and on the V8 - https://www.evo.co.uk/caterham/7/6641/caterham-levante , https://www.pistonheads.com/news/ph-spottedykywt/caterham-seven-levante-v8--spotted/40702 I am sure the V8 were two Japanese motorbike engines put together.
  4. I will leave the answer here. From one of our threads.
  5. I vaguely remember someone having one. Market trends from the country of engine? I thought this was built as an outright track machine from the 1950s and later made into a road car which you could buy in KIT form? Superlight weight, small engine, goes very well around the corners. There was a time they built one with two Yamaha R1(?) engines mated together with over 500hp as a limited production (or was it a concept only?)
  6. Did one of our forums members own one?
  7. Your second guess would be correct. Mazda Capella / 626 it is. Quoting Count Blockula from Vavulwatte it would have been "malli suck ekak dennada?" (And its not a bad thing)
  8. Ok then here you go, I was following one yesterday on my way home the guy was driving a bit odd as he used to accelerate suddenly and slow down to a crawl at times (sometime too careful) only when I overtook it I saw that it was an undertaker.
  9. Normally the car will go into park when the driver door is opened, however if the door is not closed properly the last message should come on. Did you get it checked with the agent? Not shifting to P is a bit weird could be a software glitch.
  10. Correct. They made vehicles under the Beijing name back in the day (Beijing Benz, Beijing Jeep etc) I have driven the Beijing Jeep double cab (running a Toyota Petrol engine) which had an old Jeep face and a Single Cab (running an Isuzu diesel engine) typical communist jeep face. Sri Lanka Police got a fleet of Beijing Jeep Humvee look a likes recently through the Government of China. This current one is infact a Petrol version assembled in Sri Lanka by David Peiris.
  11. This will hopefully be interesting. Coming from a state owned manufacturer who used to build vehicles for other brands in their country. The previous vehicles used to be copies of other brand vehicles which they used to manufacture with very long names (letters followed by numbers), I was fortunate enough to drive two of those in Sri Lanka (a petrol double cab and a Diesel Single Cab) of which one is still being used by a leading manufacturer agent as their parts vehicle. Later on I think around 4-5 years ago Sri Lanka Police got a fleet of vehicles from this manufacturer as a grant maybe?
  12. SIM games should have CAr racing as well as VEDETTE piloting games.
  13. Chinese are going to take over the automobile industry for sure. Tesla who was considered ground braking is shying away from the promised small EV and moving to Taxi cars as the competition is too strong. Then comes Chery with this small EV SUV. Looks like a Mini G Class / Jimny but is fully electric.

Yes they are no more the joke in the automobile world, they are infact taking the established players as jokes. Wonder if things will fall down like what happened to their construction industry with so many players when they cant get much demand.

I saw that and I was amazed by how flat the car was going over those

  14. Ok so since no one has answered, would either @matroska or @iRage please give the answer.
  15. I was watching a Yangwang U8 struggling to make it up a muddy hill on Youtube. I was wondering why cant an EV be more capable off road than an ICE vehicle. Given the fact that this behemoth has 4 individual motor on each wheel it should be able to direct power to the wheel that has more grip and stop power to the slipping wheel. Cant be rocket science right?

Could be very car specific too. Maybe the software isn't that good ?

One thing I saw regarding the Rivians (and the Ford trucks) were that the torque delivery was not optimized for situations like rock crawling due to the software. Later on apparently it was made to perform a lot better.

I saw that even the mighty Tesla CT also failed in certain situations. But for a vehicle with a motor on each wheel they should be able to get the computers to work out which wheel needs power (Nissan did it in the 1980s), technology should be pretty advanced now and I feel its a missed opportunity. I was waiting for the thing to easily go up with the 1000hp on tap but no it got stuck.

Yes....considering the current stage of technology, a lot of things should be possible and easier to do. Sadly, haste and greed mixed with an outright lack of common-sense sort of messes that up :).

  16. Man you have given a very big clue here. Yes there is one locally, sent you a message. Maybe buy it locally and ship it back to its origin country?
  17. If you have found any further details you can put them as hints, lets keep the importer secret for the time being.
  18. Yes there are quite a few and some are quoting very high prices as well. A few things to keep in mind, 1. Battery - These are plug in hybrids (and not electric) you need to charge the car to get best efficiency and best performance out of the car. A home 15Amp power socket is sufficient, charging time will be close to 8 hours. The batteries can fail, doesnt mean you have to replace the whole battery pack. Sometimes you can get away with replacing temperature sensor. However if a cell goes below the 60% usability the company will recommend you to replace the relevant cell or cells. 2. As a sports car it has very low ground clearance so you will need to take care on certain bumps and sudden climbs. 3. Practicality - Lets face it it is a lovely design, but try getting in and out wont be the most graceful embarking and disembarking that you will do in your life. Old people will curse you and the fairer sex with short skirts, and sarees will be red faced and struggle. 4. Mileage clocking - most of the cars will have the meters turned to mph from kmph or in the worse case scenario manipulated to show low numbers. I would suggest you get the car checked through the company or a reputable place that vehicle inspections.
  19. Ok then here goes, I would certainly ban @matroska of replying for 24 hours on this as we discussed on this car. From the weird world of oriental cars, and no its not a kit car it was built for the youth of a certain generation. Hints of the famous British mark maybe. The history of this car in Sri Lanka is a bit grey I dont know how many are running around, but can confirm there is one in the country of which the owner is also confused. Maybe @iRage can share some insights. Here goes then I am being generous here,
  20. Ok then since no one answered, Its a Honda Integra (Type R) 4th Gen. BTW @iRageis the car still owned by the tea factory owner?
  21. Over 200hp, 2.0l with a kicked in yo engine. One of the best handling front wheel drive cars. This be the 4th gen. A customer of mine had the white one.
  22. Hmm interesting. Do you want to go ahead and post the next?
  23. Ok then here goes this should be easy.
  24. Chinese Chery Tiggo 4, assembled in Sri Lanka
