  1. hmmm  its not like there are a lot of pieces ne! :)

    any import restrictions on karts?

also it should be something that one can race here right - has anyone on the forum competitively raced karts before?

if so care to enlighten us on exactly what kinda kart would be best suited for local competition?

Hi devinda, the national kart championship was last run in 2005, the main reason it died was there was no place to run the karts, we last used independence square, the classes that were last run were the yamaha and the international class. The possibility of running a championship again is being looked at but once again location is the problem... if a championship is run the chances are it will be a yamaha class (cos that is the most common engine available in SL and the cheapest available one here).

We did run a yamaha go-kart (fitted with a clutch) at the speedrome but it is way too powerful and there is no way u can use even 70% of the power, but it was a fun drift session :-D

  2. 2. unfortunately i couldn't find uncoated bulbs which is why i just settled for the blue... i know the problems with blue bulbs and no sooner i find a clear replacement i'll get rid of them... HID is now not an option cos as you said the bad reflectors will do jack on any lighting source...

    did you check wurth's?

  3. Hey Drake and Sharkster, Just wanted to say thanks for taking the time to gimme the scoop on the legacy's... It's still under serious consideration. Will let you guys know... Thanks again.

Glad to help, hope some of your questions did get answered and the info helps make your decision easier...

  4. Hi...........

Its silver...........then you are refering to HB 1110 blue colour RSK........that ownes by one of my best friends...he got it from Hussain........

Yep i think we are both refering to the same car though i can't remember the number of hand, it's in great condition had a small drive in it before it was sold and the car was running extremly well! B)

  5. Ash colour..........is it a the blue car u refering???????????......

yeah it's a blue car, sold about two weeks back

when u say ash is it the legacy silver or different?

  6. thanks machan, will call you this eve. btw, were you in bamba junc at bout 8.30 8.45 this morning going towards kollpetty?

doubt it cos my car mainly runs on the weekend... machan if u r calling me call after 6.45, thanks

  7. @ Drake, bro you mind giving me your email addey. Would like to get some info bout your ride too.

    Thanks again guys.

    Hey

u can mail me at [email protected] or u can give me a call on 0777602618, will be glad to help u out

  8. and it was originaly a twin turbo........but converted o a single turbo and now it has a STI 8 turbo.....Awsome power.........

    Hi Nuwan,

is it that the car you bought converted to single turbo, cos the car i am refering to is still a twin turbo... by the way what colour is your car?

  9. Ahh and thought I made a mistake in seeing you in it then :) Yeah the Legacy/B4's would be a lot more refined and forgiving for normal day to day driving- had an idea to own one actually, but the market risk is a bit too high

Yeah the B4 market seems to be a bit risky these days but as i've mentioned earlier if you do find one of those mint condition cars then it's worth it cos it's such a great car...

By the way have i met u before?

  10. yeah.. saw the car around Thimbiri a couple of weeks back.. must say it looks good. Would have thought you'd have a look at a certain Subaru though thats for sale.. yep after driving an Sti the other day I have to agree- Blown 2lt/AWD rocks- I'd dont think you can come back to n/a after using one

actually was using the car a couple of weeks back, true once u drive these types of cars it's hard to go back to n/a, strangely though i'd have to say i prefer driving the subaru around town

  11. lol those who know the scene know the scene Dude.. Good luck with the car. Thought you had already sorted the purchase out..

unfortunately the guy who was going to buy my car pulled out at the 11th hour,

well the good news is at least that car is back on the road, but it still isn't mine... who knows if it's meant to be i'll get if not at least i'll have the RS.... so can't complain to much :)

  12. the silver one in the classifieds IS your car though right? and may i ask what is you've got your heart set on??

    Yep thats my car

a certain car that was once well known, but disappeared from the road for the last few years, although it's back on the road now... want to make it my next project :D

  13. lol, if you're willing i'll have it at your door right now!!! :D been watching russel peters i take it?

honestly though i'd love to get my hands on an RS, since yours is going to take a while i was thinking of drake's..... but unfortunately the cash is going to take awhile.... unless hes also willing to swap for the bug?

Sorry got my heart set on another car  if i can't get that it's going to be pretty hard to pry the RS from me :)

  14. slightly OT on this, but i was wondering, does anyone know how many Legacy RS's we have here in SL?..... I know personally of only 2, Sharkster's and the silver car in the classifieds (which i assume is drake's). are there many more?

A Legacy RS is definitely on the wish list when i have the required bread.... :)

there's mine, sharksters, Nadeera's old car (last i heard it was crashed & just lying somewhere), a dark purple car, another 300- car and a silver one which was converted to single turbo but that to had crashed and is lying somewhere.

So all in all as far as i can track there were 6 cars of which only 4 are confirmed running on the road

Also don't get me wrong, the B4 is a lovely car, i would by one if i had the bread and found one that was in good condition, incidentally one was sold recently for 2.7m, lovely car very low mileage, perfect interior all original (even had the original McIntosh radio) and it was a Manual. So really good cars do hold value, it's just really hard to find one!

  15. drake can probably contribute better...

Both versions are great cars, but in SL the B4 has had a few probs with the fuel, saying that so have certain wrx, we just don't know about it cos usually when we here of a wrx engine rebuild it's due to the owner over reving it.

Most parts between the two cars are interchangeable but certain parts on the RS are cheaper eg. brake pads

Also even though the RS is an older version the car's have gone through all the major services, it is shocking to note that most B4's i've seen have clocked almost a 100,000km. This plays a much biggger role rather than year of manufacture when it comes to wear & tear in these cars.

As sharkster mentioned the above two guys are the best option at maintaining the cars but it always helps to have a good understanding of these cars which means a lot of time surfing the net :-)

My advice if u r going for a B4 look for a Manual TT (as N/A are no fun at all, severly under powered cars), with low milage or with all the major services done. Also see if you can find out about the history of the car either from the agents or from who ever maintained it.

  16. if i may ask (cos i'm really clueless but sub's), is the normal impreza considered a performance car or is it only the wrx's?

usually only the subaru's with forced induction are considered as performance car's.... in most cases the n/a engines are little bit down on power to really complement the AWD (although the 2.5ltr is nice)

Good comment about sri lanka and performance cars. As per the owner on average this Impreza does about 8-10 km/l. Availability and cost of spares is the bothering question I have.

parts are costly but to some extent you can find replacements locally, not too sure about fuel consumption for n/a enigines but i have heard that the n/a B4 is only a bit better than the twin turbo's.

  18. just curious to know how much will be a subaru impreza 1999 - 2000 wrx going these days. i heard from my friend these cars need to be maintain properly and when its come to 100k need to do major service. wonder what we have to do when its come to 100k is it the same like other jap cars or is it completely different. please let me know about it.

the 100k service is the same as other cars, only it may a bit more expensive, but as sharkster know's certain parts can be locally sourced. The service includes the timing belt and pulleys associated with it, t belt tensioner and the water pump. Also if not previously done all fluids in the car should be changed (gear oil, diff oil etc...)

  19. Ha ha ..big enough to land big jets :D ..guess where...my office back yard.. but no way we can get permission to run a race!!

hmm.... you running a kart with a nice big jet in the background must be an interesting site.....

anyway is u can think of any good locations let me know
