  1. Hi MAS, Hope you will avoid Aluminium Radiator and if this is Rohxna Radiotor @ Kelaniya , Avoid that too. I had bad experience with them few years ago after installing new radiator for my BJ5P.Low quality product + poor after sales service. Just sharing FYI
  2. First, sorry for late update as I was out of office for 2-3 months. Changing the plug wires has resolved the above issue 100% !! Plugs were not getting the adequate electric power due to some faults in the wires. Sharing this for your info. Special thank to you, Harshan for directing to right place... Cheers !
  3. Many thanks, Harshan.... I greately appreciate your advise, You not only gave me advise but helped me contacting a great fellow who gave me very clear instructions on what to do/test and was real consolation. As per him, I may check the plugs wires first and he will advise the way forward....all DIY ...before touching anything major. Will post the progress once those done. Many thanks ,again.
  4. Hi Friends, I was experiencing an issue with my 406 ( D 8, 1999,1.8 cc, Manual) as it was giving some knock/vibration when accelerating @ 2nd , 3rd gear. When checked, I found it was due to one plug which has some oily stains on the head.I tested the same issue after cleaning that particular plug and car was running perfectly for 200+ km and started troubling again.Engine tune up,plug changes done 6 months back. As per my technician( old carmart technician @ Makola), some repair on the engine( with rings, sleeves as per him) is required and I may be ready with 25 -30 K. 1.What can be the reason as the engine has done only 120 K ? 2.Should I resort to another technicians, if so pls specify 3. What else, can I do alternately ? I really appreciate your inputs as I want to fix this issue with little money @ this difficult time...... Rgds, Kumaras
  5. You can simply modify the rear speaker fixing pannel to have high quality 6 x 9 (3 way/4 way )speakers and leave the front as stock.....is another option. Anyway ,wait for Sylvi's update. If both options fail, let me know...... I will be selling my two speakers to you ......@ cost.... ????
  6. Oh , Sylvi.... I didn't read ur reply.Anyway, I tried Pexco & Boxx places as well. That was early 2012.Don't know the situ now.....
  7. I was searching for same speakers for my Ford BJ some time back ,almost all the shops in Pettah. But not found. Then got a second hand pair( 4 K as I remember) . After this scene,I came across another set of Original Ford speakers from a person who has brought down many speakers/ CD set ups from Europe and bought a pair for 5 K (as spares ), bit expensive but it was superb. So, you may try few places @ Delkanda area or Mxxxx Motors @ Papiliyana . In case, you fail.....I can offer mine........he...he ...... hope this helps
  8. Sorry bringing another issue .......Actually I wanted to open a thread on somewhat similar type of issue I am having. It is not paint dots but few stain marks/patches on the windows.Tried with glass cleaner, but couldn't get rid of them. I was told (by a painter) that thin sand paper with water will remove these but I was fussing due to fear that it will damage the glass. Can any of above solutions be applied in my case ? pls advise Thanks, Kuma
  9. Frankly, I have no idea about spares parts availability for Accord but it is not a common model (like Civic) which could be the reason this spare parts shops/reconditioned body parts importers do not stock them. Accord is very comfortable, pleased to drive car with good performance and above all its Japanese make so most of machanics can deal with it ,compared to an europian make.......that is why I said it could be also be a good choice (I am a Peg fan though ) Kuma
  10. Hi, Expensive agent's story is common irrespective of brands.I was in a delima to buy a Peu 406 some time back, due to the same reason mentioned above. But keep in mind that there are many other places(other than expensive agents) who do repairs/bring parts ,even @ cheaper prices than those of Japaneese.Recently I bought a T-belt & kit for my 406, just for 6 K and shocks for 19 K (pair) which could have been morethan 30 K for a Japaneese make.( I am cmaparing this with EK3, BJ which I owned). just my two cents. Anyway, I agree that Accord is also a good choice in ur list. Good luck!
  11. I also was searching for a car for my friend who had 5K , about 04 months back. With some advises, we could narrow down to followings. 1. Lancer box (1980-83) 2.DX wagon ( 1985-86) 3.Fiat UNO 4.Daihatsu charade G 10 (1982) 5. Ford Laser/Mazda Familia - BF -(1985-87 -most are BN brought)- finally we bought a Laser for 4.4 Lks which was in average condition( with AC). The experience I got searching morethan 30 odd cars is that pls don't expect supurb condition body with no corrosions and nice interior , especially with the age of those macchines. Since you are FIAT FAN, with euro taste..... Uno will be a good option IMO.We came across a car for 4.5 lks which was relatively better than any in our search. but didn't know about spares and maitenance related matters, so gave up. Just my 2 cents and GOOD LUCK !
  12. Hi dear friends, I was out of reach of mails/webs yesterday and seeing them now. Wooow, I can't just imagine the feedback and genuine interest shown in my post. I have no words to express my gratitute for you all being such friendly and supportive. In response to Harshan, our Peugeot expert, it is 1.8 L and not sure about the engine type.will get back with details on that. Cheers, KS
