Sort of one sided no, all this? Specially when competitors get calls asking to step off the gas, and let the little man haul a$$? O tempora o mores
Uhmmm... No competitors have been given calls asking to step off the gas mate... The Atom is fast enough on it's own merit... The GTR took down other cars quite easily last year to get into the finals... what other competitors decide to do after is on their own accord... Trust me this year, people running in his class and gunning to beat him... come watch on sunday and see for yourself

CMSC DRAG CHAMPIONSHIP 2014
The oldest Motorsport Club in the country Ceylon Motor Sports Club, will once again organize the CMSC DRAG CHAMPIONSHIP on the 24th of August 2014 with the Sri Lanka Air Force, at the Katukurunda Race Track located in Kalutara. A 3-Round Championship will be conducted by the CMSC with the first round slated in August.
The event, which will be held on 24th August, is expected to bring many enthusiasts and spectators alike to the race. Well-known personalities from the Racing community and exotic vehicles are scheduled to make a presence on the legendary Katukurunda racetrack in anticipation for a great day of racing.
The event will ensure that Drag Racing in Sri Lanka would be taken to new heights in the coming future. This will certainly help more enthusiasts to compete in the ‘Drag race’. As the event will be held at a sanctioned venue, it will require only a valid driving license and the competitor’s street vehicle. This is one way in which the regular/general publics are allowed to experience a racing situation whilst being controlled by a recognized club.

In my honest opinion, this year was by far the best Night Race we have had. Having driven last year and this year, the improvements were significant and more thought out. All of us drivers agreed that the limited events as well as the exclusion of the GT2, Indian events was a good thing. We weren't tired out from long days and actually enjoyed the event. Finishing off at midnight was fantastic and even the rain didn't dampen the atmosphere by too much. Safety was much better and spectator handling was spot on. If we keep improving at this rate, we should be able to finally get to a international level in the years to come! Cheers!

CSN will be recording live on the Day and then telecast the entire event at a later date. RedFM will be giving live updates. The CMSC FB page will be running live updates through out the day. The 4WD Open Event will be very very very hotly contested. Plus there are a few special surprises turning up to run

Hi Everyone, Please NOTE that this is the LAST DAY to place your entries for the Katukurunda Drags on the 25th August '13!!! Nothing will be accepted after 4pm TODAY (Friday the 23rd of August). Please understand that ALL ENTRIES will be handed over to the Sri Lanka Air Force tonight for Security Passes and Clearance. Therefore, If you have not made an entry before 4pm it WILL NOT and CANNOT be accepted later on. If you haven't done so already please call the CMSC Office on 4645081 / 727645081 for more details and to confirm your participation! The Entry fee is 3000rs for Cars / 1500rs for Bikes and open to anyone that has a valid driving license!

It's a 2012 GTR Black Edition, more horsepower output at 540 Bhp, versus the older gen cars at 485 Bhp... It was used on the Night Race track during the testing on the 13th with Dilantha's Lambo... lovely car for sure!

Just for my knowledge, Y u didn't started off again ..... probably u had a better chance to finished it yet...
Darin has a Push-Start button on the STi 10 and im pretty sure it didn't engage... i might be wrong though... Darin?
He eventually did get the car going and finished 6th if im not mistaken...

sounds like access will be much more restricted compared to last years event
lets say i get 500 rupee ticket then i can only stay at York Street not even make my way to galle face area where tickets are 50 rupees
Nope there is no way that you will be able to move from york street to galle face regardless as access will have to be through the track... the ticket states where to enter and exit from... thats why you should buy the ticket that you feel suits ur plan the best?

Andrew... i dont know whether you'd be able to answer this, but anyway, the races aside what about the other entertainment factors?? i mean Last year there were plenty of booze music and food & stuff.. We were at Dutch hospital stand and it was max.. bringing our own booze was also allowed and it was entertainment at its peak..
Lets say if we are to buy CSN tickets for MOD stand, can we expect a similar atmosphere there too???From what i know, on the 14th there is a official CSN pre-party at the Taj North Lawn... its the Global Deejays in Concert... Its 1000rs entrance but if you hold a CSN night race ticket the entrance is free... they have a Fb event link also on the CSN group page... i know there will be beer stalls etc etc but not too sure on the hard liquor... the ticket does state that no liquor may be brought it from the outside... i was told there will be music at the stands and food/drinks are available at every stand/section of the track too... MOD stand will have the best view but probably the tightest security...

There you go... Also i suggest trying not to bring a car anywhere close... just try and get dropped off or take a tuk... also depending on the ticket you purchase, it will be marked on it, where the entry point for that ticket is from... you wont be able to enter from any other side than the one demarcated on the ticket itself...

There are tickets available for the CSN Stands around the track at all the Hotels still... The hotel 'package' tickets that were put together by the hotel themselves are pretty much sold out...The CSN ticket counter at Galadari Hotel is selling a limited amount of the Ministry of Defence stand (MOD) tickets also known as the 'sky blue' stand... 2500rs seated on the galle face stretch landside... In my opinion one of the best stands to watch from as its right on the race track with clear views of the main straight and final corner... Just a FYI for all of you who asked me... Also once you enter a stand you will receive a wristband that grants you access only to your designated area... You cannot 'walk' the track or anywhere other than where you have paid for... The tickets are also valid for both days 14th Qualifying and 15th Racing... cheers!

Hi everyone, some good news to share with you all! After speaking with the Air Force we have managed to reduce the Entry Fee for the Drags to 3500rs per car! For all of you that have already paid the Original 5000rs, we will refund the balance back to you. You can either pick it up from the CMSC office or have it refunded back to you on Sunday at the event. Thanks for entering and hope to see many more competitors lodge their entry before Friday!
