Sadly no straight 6 on the P5B, it came with a V8 instead,  but its a beautiful car! I hope you get your hands on one @Virenmg

(Am also tickled-pink that it was available as a 4-door coupe. So Mecercedes can stop with the whole "We created the 4-door coupe segment with the CLS" nonsense I suppose! Rover had them beat by around 50 years! :D

Meanwhile there maybe some of them here already given how lovely it looks and its history (seems like it was popular amongst the well-to-do back in the day, which means there's a good probablilty some got imported to Sri Lanka / Ceylon).

Too bad @MasterDon isn't around. I bet he'd know if there were any here...

    I'm here! ?

No P5 coupes here as far as I know. a couple of sedans.

The classic car importation scheme is there, for now. Its just like regular car import(tax based on engine capacity), but you need to be a member and have approval of the Classic Car Club of Ceylon...my signature coincidentally, since I'm one the two secretaries of the Club.

Since you mentioned the first gen CLS..here's mine!

And I thought I was the only one who liked Russians

What's the Poljot u got? 3133? I was desperately looking for a genuine 3133 but good ones are pricey.

I have a Vostok Tank and a Scuba Guy. Also had a questionable KGB and a fake Zakaz but gave them away.

Poljot is vintage piece. 1980 Moscow Olympics commemorative watch.

  5. Hi. I haven't read the thread thoroughly so I don't know if you've bought the car above. I'd advise you to save up a bit a go for a better example. Because once you do all the tinkering, painting and upholstery it easily exceed twice the purchase price at least. Most of these cars have been butchered and abused by 'buying and selling' people So unless its REALLY cheap, keep looking and buy a minter.

I know the appeal of doing a project car from ground up, but don't waste your money.

Anyway good to see another project thread, for tips and tricks on restoring, look up a project thread I did on an old Triumph on these forums, if its still online.

  9. As cars for your sales reps? But even, then wouldn't the Alto be the better choice based on reliability and ease of maintenance?

    Yeah something like that.

Not really,Both are sort of equal when it comes to reliability and maintenance. The Alto is definitely more easier on the depreciation. The Nano is truly a fun car to drive as both Supra and esdeez will attest.I got a good deal from D*MO so I went with Nano.

  10. @MD, can you order directly from the K&N site? If I remember right, they just refer you to their local dealer listing, ie Motorcade for us. Wanted a pair for a bike but Motorcade wanted a kidney for it!

You're right,I forgot. There is no check out on the site .What I did was email them regarding the Triumph's air filters and someone got back to me from their California Headquarters as I remember.Or might have been a reseller in CA.Not sure. But he was able to get the custom TR2/3/3A filters for me.Here's the post I made - http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/13459-triumph-t-r-restore-project/?p=238152

  11. I test drove the new Indica(xeta),Nano,Alto,Hyundai Eon and Panda within the last month. The Indica is a good car but the Alto seems the more refined and easily sellable too.Reccomend the Alto or Hyundai for private use.

If you're wondering which one I'd choose,I ended up buying two Nanos.
