If you are interested in a different brand like Ford, check with Ford agents in Sri Lanka. They have Ford Focus, titanium trim for 5.85 millions according their Facebook page. I have ordered my Ford Focus one month ago and got a special discounted price 5.5 millions and I'm getting the car tomorrow. So if you visit them you can check the vehicle and you may get the discounted price. The country of origin is Germany and this has lot of features since the titanium trim is the highest grade. I will update the Ford Focus thread after getting my car tomorrow.

All the strips I have seen, have luminous colors. These strips illuminates in the dark and I thought those people hanged them as a safety related thing. That is the only benefit I can think of

Check with Ford agent in Sri Lanka, they import Ford Focus 1l ecoboost sedan, their price is 6.2 M but they have a promotion for 5.5 M in this month. They said they import only the 'Titanium' trim which is the highest grade and they said they have 5yr or 100k warranty for drive-train. Unfortunately they do not have test drive vehicle or any sample so you can make a refundable reservation.

I was checking to buy a brand new car for a 6-7 million but unable to find a good deal due to this ridiculous tax system. Did not want to buy Civic 1l turbo since those are grey imports and do not have a proper warranty. I was checking with car agents to find a good brand new vehicle for this price range. The Ford agents in Sri Lanka are bringing down 2018 Ford Focus 1l EcoBoost for 6.2 million and at the moment they have a promotion for 5.5 million with 5 year or 100,000 km drive-train warranty and 3 year or 60,000 km bumper to bumper warranty. Unfortunately they do not have test run vehicle therefore they take refundable advance payment for the reservation of the car and their first shipment will be arrived in July. I did extensive online research and all the reviews say this is a good car. So made the refundable advance payment to reserve a car from the first batch.

Hi Chamilka, since you are driving in Kandy traffic, I will describe our experience with Kia Picanto 2016 model in Kandy traffic and my wife has this car and it is her daily drive. The car has 5 year warranty, ABS, Dual Airbags. So the spare parts will not be a problem you can always get it from Kia Sri Lanka. The build quality of the Kia is excellent compared to Celario and safety wise it is also better choice. It has a good pulling power though it has 1l engine and speeding up Kadugannawa will not be a problem. It has very comfortable front seats and very nice interior compared to Indian cars. The space in the back seat is not sufficient for adults with long legs ( height > 5'6") and ride in the back seat is not a comfortable experience. Fuel efficiency. My wife bout this car in March 2016 and now it has 2400 km on the ODO, we tracked the fuel efficiency using an app, the average is around 11.3 in Kandy traffic. In the long run (Kandy-Colombo-Kandy the average is around 14.0) Celerio may have slightly better fuel efficiency in the Kandy traffic but you have to sacrifice the safety and build quality for the slight fuel efficiency, it is better if you can get the real fuel efficiency of Celerio from a person who daily drives in Kandy traffic. The price of brand new Kia picanto 2016 or 2017 will be more than 3.1 Million with ABS and Dual Air bags, Do not buy the picanto version without ABS and Airbags which goes around 2.9 million,safety there is no much difference with this version and Indian cars.

I did the 1000 km service at KiA, Kurunegala Service station for Picanto 2016 model which also has 5 years warranty. The cost as follows Total 6138/- without labor since we have 3 services without labor charge, actually they have included labor charge to bill and reduced it saying complementary from KIA, the labor charges is 3200/- Engine Oil: 3599/- (Valvoline 10W-30)- they used barrel oil not the can. Oil filter: 1118/- Rest 1411 for other bunch of items like kerosene,shampoo etc. after the 3 labor free services, total will be around 9500/- I have 2016 version with ABS think 2016 and 2017 model shares the same engine and my wife drive it most of the time, the average fuel economy she get is around 11.3 km/l (full tank method) in school time in Kandy best is 12.5 and worst is 9.3. We use app to track the cost for the car and usually fill the tank full when it comes to half tank level. We took it to highway and handling is good at 100 km\h. When coming to Kandy we two friends came with us and the pick up is also good in Kadugannawa even with 4 adults in the car, the people in the back seat, yeah they had to apply Siddalepa on knees, neck and the back after the ride and they swore never sit on back seat of a Picanto again. The front seats are really comfortable and its fun to drive comparing to Alto K10, Nissan March K11 etc.

Hmm, as I mentioned previously, I also had the same issue and disassembled the engine and cleaned at Polgolla garage. After that I clocked another 15000 km (three 5000 km services after cleaning the engine). I did not notice this issue after cleaning the engine (I monitor the engine oil level once a week) My driving pattern is short distance (40 km daily) and some long distance trips regularly (Kandy-Colomb-Kandy). I had a bad habit and I stopped it after this sludge issue, not sure it is related to that habit. Before the sludge issue, everyday morning I open the gate and drive the car out of the garage, stop the engine before it comes to the optimum temperature, Then start the car when my wife is ready to go to work and drive her to the work place. Now I do not stop the engine and keep the engine started till wife ready to go to work

I think Honda FIT GP5 (according to your picture, this should be GP5, not the GP1) has the same iDCT system, so if there is a problem in dual clutch transmission, GP5 could be a victim.

No, it has a good pickup, you can overtake in hill roads without a problem even 3 passengers in the Car, There is an RPM gauge and it is useful when overtaking hilly roads. However if you used to drive a car with higher engine capacity, you will feel this is as a slow car.

Kia Sri Lanka may introduce Picanto 2017 later this year but I guess it will be more exepensive

I recently bought a Kia Picanto 2016 for my wife. Before purchasing, I compared this with Perodua Axia 2016. The build quality and the interior quality is of the Picanto is much better than the Axia. Same has 998 CC, 3 cylinder engine. The leg space in the back is not sufficient for an adult passenger in Kia Picanto if you moved the driving seat to the back most position like me and I felt leg space is in Perodua Axia is better than Picanto. Also Picanto does not have reverse sensors but Axia has. Wife loved the Picanto than Axia and she said the Axia is more like an Alto. The Picanto has a good pickup (better than March k11 as I felt) though it has a 3 cylinder engine. The car is still under 1000 km in ODO. I checked the fuel consumption using full tank to full tank method. In the moderate traffic (in Kandy), it gives 11 to 11.5 km/l, In long distance (only one round trip Kandy-Colombo-Kandy) it scored 14.5 km/l. So it is too early to check fuel economy yet but I think it will work 10 to 10.5 km/l in heavy traffic conditions in Colombo and 14 to 16 km/l in long distance depending on your driving style. I think Perodua Axia also gives similar fuel figures since you cannot do much in these traffic conditions in Colombo and Kandy (worse than Colombo) There is another option Hyundai Garand i10, which is bit expensive than Picanto but made in India. Hyundai i10 and Picanto have the same engine and gear box

Hi Vitz I also have a FIT GP1 2012 model and had the same issue. Engine oil level went down drastically. This happened when the ODO meter was in 47580. When I was checking the spark plugs, I could see that oil was leaked to the spark plugs and burnt the oil. Took the car to a famous Honda garage in Polgolla Kandy, those guys confirmed that the root cause was the sludge formation. They disassembled the engine and showed me and there was sludge inside the engine and covered the pistons. The mechanic said that they have observed this issue in few Honda FIT GP1s. They have cleaned the engine and assembled. Then the car was OK. Now the odometer is around 60000 did not see that issue again. Before happening this, I changed the engine oil 10000 km intervals. (It is a cheap synthetic oil) and that might be the reason . Usually I drive the car daily around 38 km. Still I use the same engine oil brand but change the oil in 5000 km intervals.

Hi guys, I found a 300-xxxx Honda civic hatchback car (smaller than the wagon) for around 8laks. It looks good & pretty comfortable . One of my friend said there is no second hand market(re-selling) for Honda vehicles & it is very difficult to find spare parts. Is it true? I know stafford mortors are the official agent for Honda vehicle. Do they supply spare parts for old Honda vehicles (like 300-xxxx models). Please help me I need a good advice from you guys. Thankx
