  1. I also had a GP1 and faced in to this problem and changed the 12v battery and purchased Panasonic maintenance free battery with same spec and it did not give any trouble
  2. Well it is a 1.3 naturally aspirated engine, so you can pump 92 octane without an issue
  3. What is your car Manufacturer ? Model? Manufactured year? The information you have added shown in many global car models and can be applicable where ethanol fuel 9 is available. However you should have similar text for petrol octane rating in same page or earlier or next page
  4. My wife is using Kia Picanto 2016 model, it is a good car in general and build quality is good compared to the other cars you have mentioned (not comparing Picanto with Aqua). We also short listed Picanto and Axia from the list we prepared and finally decided to go for Picato for below reason. 1. Build quality is better than the Axia 2. Warranty is 5 years or 150,0000 km 3. At that time it was cheaper than similar spec Axia 4. My wife loved Picanto and she was able to pick the color she want. Fuel economy is between 10-11 km/l in the city. 2017 Picanto looks better than 2016 model. And it has some additional options like touch screen infotainment system but try to pick the model with ABS if you go for the Picanto. We did not go to Alto automatic and Celerio automatic due to safety issues and bad build quality. Rejected Grand i10. It was very expensive 3.49M at that time for the model with ABS (and it had driver air bag only). The Picanto and Grand i10 shares same engine, gear box and chassis. Hope this helps.
  5. I saw a newspaper article today, some financial specialists have done a research on current vehicle market and they found that there are unregistered vehicles available in vehicle importers yards which can full fill the next five year vehicle demand. This is including cars, three wheelers and motor bikes. They state that bringing down such amount of vehicles in a short period is a main reason for the foreign currency crisis
  6. Kia gives 5 year or 150,000 km warranty for Kia Picanto, if you faced in to this issue when you reach to 60,000 km (you have another 44000 km) take it to the agent, if it is a manufacturing fault they will fix it for you. One thing, you need to maintain the Picanto at agents (Malabe or Kurunegala service centers) to maintain the warranty. If you purchased this Picanto from the 1st owner, ask him to transfer the warranty under your name. My wife has Picanto 2016 purchased in March 2017, it has 5 year warranty and I'm also in Kia Picanto club Facebook group and not one has reported this kind of issue or rumor.
  7. If you convert above figures to 'psi' which is the main unit used in our fuel station air pumps, Front 250 kPa = 36 psi Rear 240 kPa = 34 psi
  8. My bad. It should be corrected as 95 Octane. 95 Octane or above must be used for these turbo cars
  9. And you will get higher fuel cost as well, since you must use 98 Octane for Civic and the fuel consumption is considerably lower than the Hybrid Vezel
  10. I saw a post published by Ford Agent Sri Lanka published, for Ford Fiesta hatchback (2019 Model), check their facebook page. Call them and ask whether it has normal torques converter auto transmission or DCT. I think this 2019 Fiesta has their latest 8 speed torque convertor automatic transmission which comes with 2019 Focus as well.
  11. I think the new price of MG ZS is around 5.2M according to MG ZS users Facebook page due to new $ rate
  12. My wife's Kia Picanto came with Kumho tires and it is now 12600 kms, did not experience any issues and tire noise is bit high
  13. Yeah, this is true. Initially Ford provided brittle plastic hose from coolant reservoir but most of these brittle hoses were cracked with the engine temperature since this is a turbo charged engine. There was a recall and replaced the brittle plastic hose with a flexible rubber hose to resolve this issue. That lady mentioned in the BBC article has started the Facebook page called Ecoboost nightmare, when I go through those posts, it seems some have not fixed brittle coolant hose (they call it degas hose) after the recall and according to most of these posts (specially from ladies), they have not checked whats under the bonnet and if they check it regularly they can see coolant loss. As precaution I check the coolant level every weekend and specially check coolant level and engine oil level before starting a long journey
  14. No, my Focus has regular torque converter 6 speed auto gear transmission known as 6F15 transmission. My Focus was imported brand new by the agent. If you are going to import your car from UK or Japan and you do not like the DCT, make sure it does not have DCT. One thing you can do, import a Fiesta with 6 speed manual transmission, which is the best in performance and the efficiency. If you know the VIN (vehicle identity no or chassis no), you can check whether it has DCT ( DPS6 ) or conventional auto (6F15) from http://www.etis.ford.com/. Here you need to create an account and enter the VIN, then you can get the details of the Fiesta you are trying to buy. According to the latest information the issues related to DCT transmission are fixed but not sure how it behaves in our traffic condition
  15. If you’re doing a research, Ford Focus 1l EcoBoost, YOM 2018. In Kandy City traffic 10-11 km/l, I haven’t run this much in Colombo but expect something between 8 to 11 depending on traffic. Long run between Colombo-Kandy works 13+ You should mention the year of manufacture if you need to get correct info
  16. I have a Ford Focus with 1l Ecoboost engine. It is a really good engine and the performance is great in heavier Focus. So the performance of this little engine should be excellent in a little lightweight Fiesta hatch. If you buy a Fiesta imported from the UK or Japan it should come with 1l Ecoboost and DCT transmission. If you purchase a Fiesta imported buy the agent, it came with 1.4 natural aspirated engine and the transmission should be 6F15 conventional 6 speed auto. The agent is importing 1l ecoboost Focus and EcoSports so you can check with them whether they imports 1l Fiesta as well. The agent imported 1l ecoboost Focus and EcoSports comes with conventional auto transmission because Ford's dry dual clutch transmission may give issues in Sri Lankan hot weather and heavy traffic conditions. There are few lemon law cases in Australia and US for this DCT system and Ford has done improvements in 15/16 year models. So read the literature if you are planning to buy DCT model however this DCT should be superior than the 6F15 auto transmission in performance wise. Please check the Ford Focus thread one member added some info with his Ford Fiesta 1l ecoboost with DCT which was imported from Japan. If inbox him and contact directly you can get more information.
  17. Peugeot 2008, 7M from the Agent, with warranty Ford Ecosport 6.9M from the Agent, with warranty Both are nice cars Or you can try used Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson etc.
  18. The Sedan has nice professional look than the sporty hatchback
  19. I saw some facebook posts about this Civic 1l sedan. As I remember the price quoted was 6.3M
  20. Now my Ford Focus 1l EcoBoost reached to 2800 km in the ODO, so decided to add my experience so far. Handling. 1. Handling is really great specially when cornering. The independent suspension works really well. Never felt this kind of excitement from my previous Japanese cars. Handling of the Honda FIT GP1 was also great but this is brilliant. 2. The steering is very responsive and I can feel the road really well. 3. The car feels heavy when driving. Comfort. 1. Even though it has stiff suspension, the ride is very comfortable 2. Dual zone climate control works really well. 3. Rear seat is very comfortable to 2 people, the center seat is not much comfortable for a long ride. Performance. 1. Even though it has a 1l engine, the pulling power is great, I can say it better than a Toyota Premio. 2. Low end torque is really good and you can overtake a slow vehicle quickly, when the turbo kicks in, it provides power can you can keep going without an issue. 3. The 6 speed automatic transmission is bit slow when transferring power. in Europe this Focus comes with Dual Clutch transmission and it has very good performance but Ford do not offer it to the cars selling to warm temperature zones like Sri Lanka and India. 4. In highway, you can easily come to the 100 km/h and you don't feel the speed 5. There is a turbo lag specially moving from a stand still apart from that I felt like I'm driving a car with 1.8l-2l engine. Fuel Economy 1. In city driving, now it gives 10-11 km/l. This is in moderate traffic in Kandy and some up hill driving. Before 1500km it gave 8-9 km/l in the same route and it seems the fuel economy improved after the break in period. 2. In long distance, few round trips Kandy-Colombo-Kandy (including Colombo traffic), it scored 12.5-13 km/l First Service at the Agent 1. First 1000 km service is an inspection only and they did not change oil. Asked me to come at 5000 km to do the first oil change, after that service interval 7500 km or 6 months. 2. They said they use 10W-30 oil. (In Europe they use 0W-20), it seems Ford recommends higher viscosity fuels for 'Warm temperature zones'. 3. According to the Ford ETIS, my car is developed for 'Warm Temperature zones' (Europe is 'Normal Temperature zone' and Middle east is 'Hot temperature zone' Thanks Croswind for suggesting me to create a Ford ETIS account, it provides very good information about the car according to VIN and I can also get the maintenance schedules as well

    3D carpets?

Yeah, I have seen two cars with these 3D carpets when I was in a car wash center. Those people have added another set of 3M like carpets over these 3D carpets. It seems these 3D carpets were fixed to the floor and could not understand the purpose. Car wash people removed the 3M like carpets and washed them separately and vacuumed the 3D carpets. So the process was same as a car without 3D carpets. It looks nice but seems like the an extra cost.
  22. With the iOS 12, we can use Google Maps in Apple CarPlay. I tested it today and it works really well. If you have an iPhone 5S or above you can upgrade the iOS version 12. Then installed the latest version of the Google Maps. Connect the phone to the car infortainment system via apple lightning cable. Now you can see the Google Maps icon in CarPlay
  23. I also had this problem in my previous Honda FIt GP1. This happened after a truck knocked the side mirror (driver's side) to the other side, so I turned it back to the normal position. After that auto folding did not work. So I showed this to a local garage in Kandy and removed the cover and checked, the mirror assembly has small plastic gear wheels to make the auto folding and few teeth were broken and it slipped from the connecting gear wheel. So we positioned the gear wheel correcting and mated with the other wheel, then the auto folding worked but few hours after it did not work since few teeth were broken in one gear wheel. So only option was to replace the side mirror but I did not replace it and kept as it is. So the driver side mirror is not folding but the other-side mirror is folding. Just check whether you have the same issue, if the gear wheels are broken, you need to replace it. The local garage took 950/- to remove the side mirror and check and it was a 45 work.
  24. How about the driving side, Cars manufactured for USA are driven right hand side of the road, Are you going to convert the driving side when it is imported to Sri Lanka
  25. Does Civic hybrid have a alternator to charge 12V battery?, it seems in GP1, the high voltage battery charges the 12v battery. So if you need to run the GP1 with a dead high voltage battery, the 12v battery should be charged externally right?. Pls correct me if I wrong.
