  1. Yea I didn't really get what this Ruwan dude is going on about either.
  2. Mate, the avergae bunker buster can penetrate up to 3 meters of reinforced concrete. I think 24 of those will do a hell of a lot of damage, since some of them were 1000kg bombs. I think anti government propaganda is clouding your better judgement. Only prob is, it would have been a massive waste if there were no VIPs at the camp.
  3. According to Defencenet, SLAF used 24 bunker buster bombs to attack the 'X-Ray' base. If this is true I don't think anyone in that base would have had a chance to survive. But the bad news is, the pilots have confirmed there was no anti aircraft fire directed at the jets, which suggests that Prabha wasn't in the base. Apparantly truck mounted anti aircraft guns follows Prabha where ever he goes.
  4. I don't think quality will be much of an issue as the plant will only be used for assembly. I'm sure all the high risk components like enignes, gearboxes, drive train ...etc will be brought in from their respective factories.
  5. I saw some clips from season 10, it looks like its better than ever. I think Hammond crashes again, sometime later on this season in an Audi. Doesn't BBC 24 show Top Gear anymore?
  6. Dude...I never said I was higher man because of my job. I was countering Arc Angels arugment of: "first of all, unless your a nuclear physicist, please don't justify your need to work abroad. Because unlike the other Lankans living abroad who have contributed to this thread, you are quite ignorant." I agree that your job's got nothing to do with it here, but I was making a point that not only nuclear scientists are justified working abroad. I would love to work in Sri lanka but I also want to follow my career path. That was it...I never mentioned my line of work after that. People just jump to conclusions! I follow the situation in Sri Lanka very closely, and I read from lots of different sources not just govt media. I'm back in Sri lanka at least twice a year (I was there in June) and all my family is still there. so I know whats going on in sri lanka. There are lots of short falls from this government but there are also lots baseless allegations against the government which people take for real. I say they are not guilty unless proven otherwise, and I still maintain that this the best government we've had in over a decade. Think back to JR, Premadasa, Ranil, Chandrika.
  7. Alright, alright...I lied. I work in a burger bar...and its not even a high end one like Burger King but a real sh*tty, one off kebab joint run by Kurds... And thats even part time. But I just don't understand why are you guys so aggressive in the forum?
  8. I was there too mate... I took a detour while i was designing the NASA space shuttle. I think i remember you, were you the skinny little runt who was the making tea for everyone?
  9. Man, it was Velttle's fault he even admitted to it. And was seen crying in the garage. The FIA are trying to manipulate the world championship. Alonso crashing out was a big blow for them, interms of the ratings and publicity for the next two races. They want it to go down to the wire. Same reason why Mclaren had its points cancelled but the two drivers didn't. If Alonso and Lewis had lost their points , that would have killed this season and FIA would have lost so much revenue. In terms of the driver market for next year there are so many possibilities for next season: Adrian Sutil to Toyota? Nico Rosberg to Toyota? Alonso to Renault and Heki to Toyota? Alonso to Ferrari and Massa (and John Todt) to Toyota? It was reported that John Todt doesn't want Alonso at Ferrari but Luca wants a dream team Kimi and Alonso. So as Massa's manager is John Todts son, Massa and John might both go to Toyota for a phat pay cheque. Alonso to Toyota (highly unlikely but he might for a big pay cheque)? Nico Rosberg to Mclaren, Alonso to Ferrari, Renault or Toyota? Timo Glock 2007 GP2 Champion could come into the scene as well.
  10. SeanD, the opinion poll was commissioned by LMD and conducted by TNS Lanka. So it does have some credibility. But I do agree with you about the rural population not being very concerned about the economy. I guess the people in Colombo are used to having the luxuries that come with good economic growth, and thats the reason why the UNP gets a lot of support in Colombo as they have a more capitalist approach.
  11. Anyways, its good to hear the general opinion on the government, I think in this forum it has been established that the general veiw is that Mahinda's government falling short. However this latest opinion poll begs to differ: http://www.asiantribune.com/index.php?q=node/7649 I think in Colombo people have lost faith in the Rajapaksha regime, however he still has a lot of support from the population who live out of colombo. Is it because Colombo feels the biggest pain from the down turn in the economy? Are people who live in the outskirts more patriotic and support the war and the cultural and religious stance of the president? Are people in colombo more susceptible to the Anti government propaganda of the UNP? Or does Colombo know whats really going on with corruption and human rights violations? The problem these days is that we can't trust the media, there are two groups, pro govenrment and anti-government. And you can beleive either because they are both equally as bad as each other. So how do we know what is really going on? Do we know that all these UNP stories about government corruption and deal with the LTTE are actually true? Has the presidents son imported an Aston Martin DB9 using the public's money? Has anyone seen him driving it regularly? I just think that when we hear rumours and read articles we need to keep this in mind.
  12. I design jet engines...can you tell me where I can work in Sri lanka? More importantly where I can utilise my skill set in Sri lanka right now? Once I get more experience in different fields in the industry I definetly plan to return to Sri Lanka and contribute to the aviation industry. Whether it is developing the technology or in the airline industry. People like you cause the downfall of Sri lanka. You just sit on your ar** and bi*** about the state of the country and the people who rule it. I do admit Sri lanka politics is not the best of examples on how to run a country, but things are slowely improving and we need to be patient. Yes the economy has taken a hit, but that is mainly due to the war expendature. And tell me how the hell can we achieve a settlement when the other side doesn't want one?
  13. Its good to see a lot loyal patriotic people in this forum. I'm all for that even though I'm working abroad, but there are no jobs in my field of work in Sri lanka. Hopefully I will one day get a chance to bring the knowledge to Sri lanka. I know there are certian characters in the government who doesn't rdeserve to be there, but that would be very hard to avoide in Sri lanka. Overall I think the government is doing a good job, it is very hard for them to fight a war and promote growth in the economy. Either we give Elam to Prabha and concentrate on the economy (a bit similar to what Ranil was doing) or try to end the war and take abit of a hit on the economy. Considering much of the gas and oil reserves are in 'Elam', what do you guys think is the best way forward?
  14. like the 330 dude! looking good. post some pics
