  1. That was fast...yes...it is a Carina ED. A few fun facts: - Toyota designed it to resemble Mt. Fuji. So if you look at the car from any direction...it looks like Mt. Fuji - When it was first launched...Toyota claimed it had the lowest height for a production sedan. It stood at 1310mm - Although it had the Carina name on it..it was closer to the Celica. - The car started a wave of pillar-less hardtop sedans in the segment. Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubishi all jumped on the band wagon after the success of the Carina ED. - ED stands for Exciting Dressy Yes..it was a Japan only model. Over to you @matroska

  2. Very much so @matroska And especially this one with the port-hole windows: Its one of those cars that you'd want to preserve and have around the house to enjoy. A very nice looking car indeed and the ideal runabout for a quick 'kaade paan' run!

  3. Like @Twin Turbo said, it does depend on the car On a semi related note, heavy carpets can be useful if you want to improve your noise, vibration & harshness levels so it's not just about keeping the car clean

  4. And I'd give my small nut to see his face when he realizes that his wife can shatter all those carefully structured requirements to small bite-sized pieces and get what she wants with a pout which promises his peace of mind would be just gone for the foreseeable future if she doesn't get her way

  7. How long your brake pads last will depend on how you drive and the type of brake pads that are there. On average standard brake pads under standard, normal person driving I would say will last about 20,000 - 25,000km (again this is subjective...). Yes 58,000 wold be too high...depends on what you are getting as well. Manufacturer ones are not the best. There are many really good aftermarket options (Dixel, etc..). Look in to those as well. If you are going to spend 58,000 then see if there are better options out there (and there will be). Even the Mitsubishi part I am sure you can find genuine ones outside of the agent. Maybe our Lancer boys can recommend a few reputable parts suppliers ? DO not go for the cheapest or cheap ones...they are utterly useless and you are just putting your self and others at risk.

  8. Best to avoid it, sensors and gadgets aside you won't notice if your floorboard develops a water intrusion due to rubber seal failure/undercarriage damage/clogged AC condenser drain. As it is now any water intrusion would be plainly visible when the cloth carpet gets soaked, cover it up with a rexine something and you won't notice until your floorboard rusts to the point of FUBAR

  9. Cataloy and WD40 wont buff out fibre glass. The fuel tank seems to be intact. A loss for the Sri Lanka. But why is this here on funniest moments, this is not funny at all

  10. The LH102 was one of the earlier models of the 100 series with the 2L engine, which came out in the early 90s so find one in good nick will be a difficult therefore it’s best to keep some cash in reserve for repairs 1. Parts are plenty available, at least in Kandy or Gampola areas. 2. Mechanically they are well durable especially the engine. The L series engines were low stress simple engines. 3. Haven’t driven LH102 but have been in and driven 113/162, The are alright in terms of comfort but don’t expect car like comfort. 4. The 2L engine was not exactly a powerful powertrain hence it will struggle on uphill drives if the van was full of passengers and luggage. 5. No idea, but expect something between 8-12km/l 6. From what I have, they are cheap to maintain 7. Hiace vans generally hold their value well The truth has been spoken

  11. You might want to consider a different car unless you need it to carry rice from mattala. Probox comes in DX and GL but both are not comfortable rides and opt on bare minium options. The suspension is stiff, the seats are from something like a bulldozer and the ride is no fun. Furthermore there is no auto climate control, Power windows (Its an option on GL), power mirrors, Dash is just a speedometer and indicators etc.. This car is very popular in countries like pakistan and bangladesh, and is one of the cheapest toyotas there. But for the price of importing one or getting one in Sri Lanka you have a lot more better choices. But in general DX is the basic trim for most toyotas, GL stands for grande luxe so its opt to have more options and side extras. In modern toyota cars the grades mosly go as X for basic trim and G, GLX etc for the higher trim models. Owners of allions and premios will talk well about the differences between F grades and G+ or G superior trims ?

  14. Ha... ha... you need my travel history? Visited Tokyo, Osaka, Hiroshima, Takamatsu in Japan. Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Trichy (india), Amsterdam, London, Bergen (Norway), Paris, Zurich, Venice, Rome, etc. People telling things without knowing the truth. Sri Lanka in not such a bad country. Being a small county surrounded by Sea, we have several advantageous when we consider the air quality. Comparatively no above city air quality was far better than Colombo for me. Dust (Duuvili) is included to PM2.5 & PM10. So AQI covers all.

  15. I am planning to buy a used car for around 25 lakhs and this is going to be my very first car. Any suggestions ? I have an idea to buy "Honda fit GP1 2011 " model. is it a good idea ? reason is 2012 and 2013 models have engine oil burning issue. But I don't have a budget for a latest model.

  16. Honda Fit GP1 is very good car to own and very trouble free Hybrid Car (may be it is mild Hybrid). Compare to other cars in this price range most of hatchbacks like Vitz, Passo, IST, WagonR, Swift, Mira, Alto including Hybrids and Petrol cars GP1 is way ahead in regard options, Comfortable, Driving Pleasure, even it way ahead with most popular Toyota Aqua. I owned GP1 one and half year now and it never give any single trouble for me. The price is GP1 is low presently and worth the every bit of money comparing above mentioned car prices (Some are very older than GP1 and still has very high price) If you refer Japanese website for recall it clearly mentioned the manufacture date range as follows. GP1-1200002 to GP1-1242186 May 10, 2012-August 2, 2013 When searching to buy a GP1 i found lots of cars 2012/2013 manufactured and falls withing recall range and all cars in 2011 out of range. So i went for 2011 minding safe side and regardless newest manufacture year. So try to avoid recall range (Except current owner repaired the oil burning issue and produce evidence of repair) When searching to buy a GP1 i found various trim levels and versions in GP1s (Basic model with less options like key starts, 10th Anniversary Model, Navi Premium Model, Fine Style Model, Anniversary and Navi Premium with Original Mugen Body Kits. etc. Navi Premium Model is the Highest grade GP1 and it has lots of extra options like 7 Speed Paddle Shift, Dual Multi function Steering Wheel, Intelligent Smart Key, CoolBox, Climate Control AC , Cruise control , Traction control , Alloy wheels , Fog Lamps , Seat Heaters,Auto Head Lights , Retractable winker Mirrors Original Honda navi premium Audio System with Reverse camera, DVD Bluetooth & Navigation. Windscreen & Side mirror heaters etc. Currently most of GP1s falls in same price range regardless above extra options. So try to find highest option out of recall range GP1.
