  2. Do this calculation first: Price of a new tyre = Rs. X Value of your life (+ your husband/wife/girlfriend/boyfriend/children lives) = Rs. Y If Rs. X is greater than Rs. Y, use a tube with your tyre If Rs. y is greater than Rs. X, then go get a new tyre immediately It's that simple.

  5. It can be done but is not recommended. A puncture or blowout of the tube will cause rapid loss of air pressure much like a balloon bursting and you may lose control especially if you are driving at high speed. Don't even think about driving on the expressway. If the car is used exclusively for low speed short journeys like going to the market or bakery it will be okay.

  6. https://www.quora.com/What-will-happen-when-I-put-a-tube-in-a-tubeless-tyre Basically possible if you don't drive at High-speed on Hot road surfaces. The performance/speed rating of the original tyre is degraded by xx%.

  7. I think all the hardtop variants were JDM only. We have a few running around which could have been recon, the successor for this was the Bluebird ARX. They always kept the nicer models for themselves.

  8. I wouldn't trust those to be honest. There are so many brands of them but it's better you get a professional tune up done. I used one such product (forgot the dumb brand) and once in a while suffered tiny misfires when downshifting (rare but happens) even though I used the right amount. Heard someone who's diesel engine started having problems after using such a product too. Get a tune up done and focus on your driving manners and concentration. Avoid driving during busy times unless necessary. That will help you get the best fuel economy and keep your car in good shape too

  10. As Maruti is suggested by Devinda_Z. I can add experience about Maruti Car. I bought a Maruti 800 to a staff member of mine, 1990 new registered very badly maintained car. Body was in very good shape. No accidents at all, when we bought the car engine was OK after about 1 1/2 years engine started burning oil. Radiator was changed complete brake system was replaced, new paint was done, new set of seat covers hood cloth, Clutch plate with pressure plate changed, Wiring was OK few things were attended. Used alloy wheels were changed with new Tires. Complete set of ball joints changed. New Windshield glass changed.New 4 Shocks were changed All above cost was Rs. 200,000. Without labour charges as we did in my work shop during free time. Bought at a cost of Rs. 450000/00. Car on the road with full insurance cost us Rs.650,000/00. Did about 15000 Kilometers after all that, did not do a engine repair managed to get Rs.600,000/00. Later he went in for a new Indian Tata car. Maruti parts are cheap available in most parts of the country. Did not give any other problem. Not very comfortable for long trips. India will stop making parts for Maruti car in future, because they do noted manufacture this 800 any more. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.

  11. One of my family member is using a Rextan 2012 it is a comfortable vehicle. At present meter reads about 90000. There are no issues so far. EGR was giving some trouble. When I spoke to him last he told me the vehicle was emitting Black smoke he took the vehicle to Micro the cost was like Rupees 30 thousand for the repairs. Services cost him twice a year each about under Rs 35000/= They change all unnecessary things. Two years back he did a full paint with few tinkering and overhaul of brakes Micro charged him close to 500,000/=. Time taken was about 45 days for all. Paint job and tinkering was very good they had taken the engine off and done the engine bay, under the chassis with a undercoat also. Had few errors on the removing and re fixing the engine after the said repair. Time taken for those adjustments was three days at a time, two occasions did not complain any thing after that. Vehicle is daily runner short distance mostly in Colombo. Only if any of his family member comes for a holiday from abroad use to go out of Colombo for few days. They normally do about 2000 Kilo meters around the country. Sylvester Wijesinghe Sylvi.

  12. Seems in ok condition. Mud engined madness. @AVANTE other than the body most parts should be interchangeable with other models. The new Ignis used this in it's design. Sadly Suzuki was not a car brand that was taken seriously at that time although their bikes we're well known.

  13. Mostly Baseless, I think as: While it's true that a car sitting in traffic vs a car running on the highway will take longer to reach its 10,000km oil change mark as long as you change the oil within the 10,000km limit or within 1 year whichever comes first; generally you are well within the tolerances of oil life and lubrication property lifespan that most Fully Synthetic oil is designed for. Also please note that while some oils are marketed as synthetic engine oil sometimes they are synthetic oil blends. (Synthetic oil + mineral oil. This applies to fancy name brands such as mobil as well -Only some grades of mobil synthetic oils are fully synthetic, some are blends.) So the lubrication properties and the oil change interval may vary based on this fact. Also at the end of the day there is definitely no guarantee that if you use fully synthetic oil your car will run past the 200,000km mark with no problems, it will not have engine sludge etc. But what you are doing right now (using fully synthetic oil and changing it at the 5000km mark) will certainly help keep your engine in optimal condition as much as possible. And hopefully you will be able to use the same car past 200,000km as well. By stretching out the oil changes to 10,000km while using fully synthetic oil will you be able to do the same: Probably. Would I recommend it? I don't see an issue. Do I do the same: Yes ( I don't use the same brand of fully synthetic oil as you though) Can I guarantee that this is good for your engine and that you will have no issues running the engine past 200,000km? No. Can I guarantee that by using Mobil fully synthetic oil you can stretch your oil changes to 10,000km and run the car past 200,000km without any issues; No- No guarantee. And if anyone gives you such a guarantee I would be extremely skeptical. Will you probably be okay stretching the oil changes out to 10,000km with Mobil fully synthetic? Yes. But that would be the same for any well known name brand of fully synthetic engine oils (including Mobil, Castrol etc and most likely Havoline as well.)

  16. AFAIK cruise control is standard for G and WXB grades. I fixed the cruise control for my father's 2015 model Aqua. I got it done from P*t*o L*nk* Polhengoda. But it's not just a fixed cruise control switch. It needs to change Clock Spring (spiral cable) also. What they said was YOM 2015 onward cruise control can be fitted to any grade but before 2015 YOM only if it had an LCD meter panel. Best thing is to speak to them and see I think.

  20. @Thushara 90 Safety is a concern but a Maruti 800 or an Alto will be cheap to buy & run These will be newer than the options suggested above, which are also good but in some cases finding parts for older cars will be a nuisance especially since this is your first car

  21. Hello there, When I said 'first hand experience' I meant it. I have a close friend of mine who is practically blind (cannot read a single character on the test chart) with one eye. He was able to obtain his driving license without any issue here in Germany. Needless to say he had to go through additional examination than regular to prove that the good eye can compensate. In the process he got to know many others in the same situation and he shared the news with me. So this is not an isolated incidence either. Therefore this is a real life concrete fact! No amount of your google searches can disprove it! Example of cricket was to stress the human body's ability to adapt to the nature's demands as several others too did on this same thread, which apparently you fail to comprehend. But I know this is my personal experience and others might not find it so useful. Hence '2 cents'. But it seems your google searches are worth 2 millions to you. I don't want to argue about my '2 cents' . I am sure you will find somebody else to argue with about your '2 million-worth' google searches. .
