  3. Well it's not only the recycling issue. This model has a design issue causing the battery to fail prematurely in continuos hot climates. There is even a lawsuit against Nissan filed by Leaf owners in Texas.

  4. This video explains the Leaf's story in detail and why Nissan is not offering brand new batteries without the depleted old batteries as @Hyaenidae and @iRage explained. I didn't know about this before, thanks @Hyaenidae for bringing up that point! So is it the same when it comes to other EVs like the BMW i3s, MG ZS EV etc.?? ?

  5. @Kavvz it's a pre-facelift number with a full conversion kit i believe. Smart looking car either way ? Personally i'm partial to the teledial rims - the GTA ones or even the small ones

  11. Paul and Paula's new Langley Nissan Langley...2nd gen (N12). THe marketing phrase was Paul and Paula's new Langley. Nissan was trying to bring back the whole Ken and Mary vibe to the marketing. Introducing Paul and Paula (The advert has the higher grade Langley with the rectangular head light cover. Lower grade ones did not have that..just the four head lights all exposed.)

  12. Yes, that's an after market turbo, but still better than not having one ?

  13. I am sure that's a turbo fitted in SL. I don't think it is as much as fun as a Glanza V coz the glass roof is so heavy. Anyway Sera is another model to hold onto.

  14. Indeed! The new Volvo XC90 is stunning inside and out. Never driven one, but they certainly do look amazing... (Also: Well, the Scandinavian buggers at Volvo have to cooperate, the new bosses are Geely. Its not like its a joint venture, the Chinese own everything, lock stock and barrel! So either you do as you're told; and Xièxiè or get lost... The mental picture of a 6' 6'' viking bugger locking knees and bowing to some ratty 5' nothing, pudgy Asian dude has me in stitches! Oh boy, how the world has changed...However looking at how things are going here, I guess the jokes' on us too. Time for all of us to learn Mandarin... )

  15. Ha ha , the inevitable leaking brake cylinders.. looks like yours have leaked quite a lot. Anyhow glad that you’ve got it fixed.

  16. Yes..they did have that..but those were fixed a long time ago. So the primary reason for them to keep on doing it now is mainly for CSR/PR/Recycling. It also gives them the ability to actually monitor the effects of the battery so that they wold not get their rear-ends sued again. Apart from trying to make battery swaps easy;Nissan is also trying to move away from this whole battery buying and selling business by trying ot adopt the Chinese model where when people run out of battery they can come in and swap batteries out for charged ones. This way the owners do not "own" the battery and Nissan can make sure that it is functioning properly.

  17. Half-baked bullsh!t from a guy who even claims to be a "doctor"? God help the Sri Lanka hybrid car owners that go to such morons for advice! True story, and the customers WON a settlement with Nissan for this design failure in 2011-12 Leaf! https://www.autoblog.com/2015/07/20/2011-2012-nissan-leaf-class-action-lawsuit-settled/?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAA8JdKVPL7-vC6-izPiMlbi3MEsqPpsJgCiVMQnM7wdWCvAGbsdNnAFn_AWENT-5sCikFidOkIJNQbQ3VCCFIlNwcGGJFWpBvClxRr6NATULJ9ZAzE12K8TIaT5kS91l8eQC_uEZdPQguWwHCbbifLlZ0rsAuv4SYMzOW3j5sH3X Wonder if any law experts can advise on getting compensation in Sri Lanka, despite not being released for our country some parallels can be drawn to the climate in California and Arizona where this legal settlement happened ...

  18. I am not going to go into much details on this repair. All the Lancer owners in this thread have gone through it at UNIMO.

  19. I know !! ? I thought it was floundering on (and still British held) like TVR...I guess China (and maybe India?) is the new frontier as far as the car market goes. Hopefully they make something of it...It'd be nice to see the MG brand prosper again! As for the PR stunt: The Chinese are masters when it comes to PR aren't they! I fear even ole Mr. ('teflon' ) Musk was taken advantage of when he moved production to China: Smart move as China is the world's biggest EV market, but registering the Chinese factory as a seperate Chinese owned entity (the majority stake of Tesla's China based entity is owned by a number of Chinese banks) was a mistake as that pretty much paves the way for the Chinese arm to end up taking over a majority of Tesla's global production: Essentially paving the ground for 'American' Tesla cars to be built in China under (majority) Chinese ownership. As Tesla (China) grows and increases domestic and European market share, it inflats China's GDP rather than American GDP, but everything is remains under the Tesla brand name> Its genius!

  20. @matroska it's the diesel rattle - the SU14's sounded like tractors. Nissan clearly didn't have any NVH standards when they made that diesel Bluebird lol As for the 406, such an elegant design for a mainstream car - the coupe was designed by Pininfarina! The other car from the 90's that I have massive soft spot for purely in terms of looks is the Alfa Romeo 156

  23. Measured from Full tank to Full tank from same petrol shed, here is the result with parameters. 1,2 l Turbo 2017 version, No bodykits 11.1 km/l 95 Octane "Normal" Driving Mode Average Load. 120 route Horana-Colombo, with moderate traffic. * The average fuel consumption indicator on the dash is extremely accurate also. * Use of cruise control on the highway seems to increases fuel-consumption. (just change lanes and let it accelerate)

  24. Utter nonsense. 92 RON fuel is also imported by Ceypetco for distribution. You can verify this yourself by referring tender documents (which are publicly available on the internet (http://ceypetco.gov.lk/wp-content/uploads/BK-TERM-GAS-OIL-GASOLINE-DTB-MUTHU-2018-2019-3P.pdf). It is well known that the contaminated/out of spec shipment which caused lot of fuel pump issues in 2011 was directly imported.
