  1. Atleast the owners think so

  2. Well I have to admit CVT's are a kill joy - the one thing I don't like about my current car is also the CVT transmission ? The holy-trinity of the mid-range sedan section. majority of Civics and Lancers are below that budget (a little long in the tooth now) so since you have a healthy budget best bet would be a Mazda. A slightly less exciting yet solid alternative to the above - an old school tough Toyota. Out of Traditional A/T, CVT and DCT I've driven - the funnest is the DCT by a country mile BUT given how they've been prone to wear out locally it's better to stay away from them ...

  4. GR line has three levels.... GRMN = highly tuned with high power engines and limited production numbers. Then there used to be G's...there are plenty of G's Aquas and Prius in Sri Lanka G's was replaced it with GR decent mid level tuning....for the Vitz its called GR Sport GR. Then GR Sport which is the replacement for the RS. Entry level tuning. The Vitz never came with a 1.6L engine. The GRMN first came with a 1.8L then a 1.5L engine. The GR come with a 1.5L gasoline engine and GR Sport in 1.5L Hybrid or Petrol engine. All these are going to be above 5mil so you will have to go for a used one..unless you have a permit. Some notes...the 2nd gen onward 1.3L S are just a trim..there is nothing sporty. So if you want a nice handling Viz..you need to go for the 1.5L RS. In addition you get a few 1st and 2nd gen TRD Turbos in SL. The Rush is he same as the Terios...there seem to be more 2WD Rush than AWD Rush. As for the Gazoo carsin SL There quite a few Aquas and Priuses (G's) There are 2 or 3 GR Sport Vitz (of the two I know..one is a Hybrid the other a gasoline). Mark X GR Sport..I have only seen one Maroon one.

  5. True - Most of the Honda's are grey imports since The agent never actually got on board with the vehicles that became popular with the 'tax-based-trends' so apart from the permit holders no one would really buy from them. A#W were relatively quick to react to the sudden kei-influx and jumped into the Wagon R bandwagon.

  6. Yeah that being priced around 9 million and the Accord being around 1.2 million would have set them back a great deal in the revenue front with majority of the other Hondas sold in the yester years being grey imports (Vezels, Graces and FITs).. Most agents must be facing similar circumstances in Sri Lanka I guess..

  8. You are talking about self inspections ? Check for tire air pressure regularly....look for any uneven wearr. Look for slight signs of fluid seepage in the engine compartment (it is the first sign of fluid gaskets going bad and when it starts seeping you cannot see the fluid loss from the dip stick or level markers for a long time). Check under the car and look for anything that looks like it has loosened up and hanging down (just a visual inspection from outside). Check the lights are working. Service interval depends on the type of oil you use. Mineral oils need to be replaced sooner than synthetics. Toyota Lanka uses normal mineral oil (or a blend) for standard services and I they will put the next service time on a little sticker or label in your car. This time periods are debatable but since you are new to car maintenance, I would suggest you stick to that until you learn some maintenance work yourself and experienced enough to figure out a service plan for yourself. Yes..there are other reputable garages that can do the service. Taking it to these garages will also give you flexibility in the type of oil. filters and other items you want to use (oil that comes in a Toyota licensed can is not the best oil..it is just average oil that Toyota says will work for your car..not expensive ..not cheap...there are better oils out there). DO NOT take it to a maka baas garage or service stations with random boys just yanking things out. So go to a reputable place. Make sure they will have some sort of maintenance book and if they maintain records..that is even better. Since your car was an agent import, has it been maintained by the agent all this time ? If so..then you might want to keep doing so. The agent might be a bit more expensive than other service centers. You will still spend the same amount of money..it is just that outside you might be able to get a better oil and other things like filters.

  9. If you're looking for a sporty, well handling car go for A1. If you expect good fuel economy with comfort, go for axio hybrid. If you expect none of the above go for a vitz.

  10. 1. First and foremost..service history. Go for a car that has been maintained properly....if not you are going ot be biting in to a real sour lemon. There are quite a few hacked 5 series out there....even those that were used by sonny boy whilst daddy was busy making dough... 2. Everything ! The BMW will be more fun and engaging to drive. However...if you arenot in to actual driving you will feel that the Premio with its boat like soft suspension and pillow like seats are more comfortable. 3. Well....your lost opportunity cost is that there always is an idiot who will buy any POS with a Toyota badge on it. You have hit gold because you have a Premio with gold badges and the all worshipped G Superior badge (I hope the G superior PACKAGE is an actual Toyota dealer installed one and not one done up by the local guys). Where BMWs are concerned....as they get older they are either bought buy enthusiasts or cheapskates looking to buy a car with a premium brand badge on it. You say Toyotas are cheap..not so....if you maintain your Toyota with proper/original Toyota parts (from sources you can certify 100%) and at garages that are reputed...the Toyota does not cost that much less than a Euro brand. It is just that you hget a lot of knock-off parts and cheap Chinese alternatives for Toyotas....
