  1. Same here.. first time I’ve encountered it. According to Scotty, you’ve got to be cautious when washing the wiper area with a high pressure water jet as it can enter the AC intake and drop into the evaporator filter. If you’ve got bird poop or some other organic muck inside (I noticed a glob right there), it can form the ideal home for mold. It’s quite common in the US under tropical weather however I’ve never had this issue here before. The second one is using a moist carpet close to the cabin filter (passenger side). This happened a few days after a car wash.. ample time for mold to form.

  2. Toyota seems to be moving away from hybrids to turbocharged direct injection in the standard segment. Reason could be high system cost of Li-ion batteries and additional parts does not make a good business case unless for premium segment.

  3. Actually yes...CRV's Realtime AWD system is one of the most lethargic acting ones and is not considered very good compared to what its competition has. I have pushed the 1st and 3rd gen ones on sand and mud....on deep sand it bogged down quite easily. On mud....it made it through. Although I have to admit the RAV4 and even XTrails that I had or was in the "crew" was a lot more reassuring to drive through these terrains than the CRV. The CRV was truly a pavement pricess with its AWD system. As for the RAV4 AWD's LOCK mode...actually that was not common. The 1st and 2nd gens had a center diff lock only for the manual transmission one (mainly because these had pure mechanical systems with power being split continuously). With the A30 series it pretty much dissappeared. The JDM variant (shortwheel base RAV4) did not come with a lock at all. Export model short wheel bases and the 3.5L RAV4s (long wheel base versions i.e. the Vanguard with a traditional AT gearbox and V6) came with an electronic lock which pretty much kept things locked up to 40kmph or for X amount of time (the latter sucked). Then the 4th Gen (which was not offered in Japan came with the new fancy torque control something system...which..well had a locked mode but was not very good. The new one's systems are apparently pretty decent.

  4. @AVANTE thank you very much for the feedback... I heard from a friend that, hybrid cars resale market exist only for 1-5 years(irrespective of it's make) and after that it's resale market value start declining... If that the case, demand for the 2014/2015/2016 hybrid cars currently at the declining stage. Is this true?

  5. No, it's not @Davy, although I wouldn't have minded that ?. America's GM is planning to pull out RHD markets, including Australia, Thailand and New Zealand. This includes killing the Australian brand Holden, known for V8s and V6s. Two years ago, GM pulled out of India and sold its European brands Opel and Vauxhall to PSA. Instead of selling Holden, GM opted to axe the brand instead. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/02/17/general-motors-winding-historic-holdenbrand-pulls-asia/amp/

  6. In another 5-6 years, there will be a trend for EVs, just like the present hybrid trend. It's not necessarily diminishing but demand for sports cars & old fuel guzzlers have gone down for sure. Crossovers, Kei cars & new Toyotas rule the market for now. In short, my take is the trend will be there for a while but don't expect a good resale value thanks to our fear for new tech, high maintenance costs & the influx of hybrid cars here.

  7. "GM douchebag has inserted the final sandpaper dildo into Holden. Kinda like the way you kill a vampire, only with a uniquely Detroit twist" -John Cadogan, 2020 ?

  8. No specific requirements mentioned. But as per your desire, go for a Corolla AE110. I don't wanna recommend an FB14 because most of them are botched/abused. You have a better chance at finding a good AE110 than a Sunny.

  9. See..this is my point @gayanath....we have people shouting for permits and increased taxes. But where are the people demonstrating and shouting asking for safe school buses ? or making the private buses safe ? When the government enforced high penalties for buses they held the entire country hostage....how ? why ? we are the majority..we could have held them hostage and made them fall in line with the regulations. But we didn't..because for our population, it meant they themselves will have to sweat for it. When AIrbags were made mandatory....people went and yelled saying cars are getting expensive and that they are being discriminated because they do not have the ability to buy "expensive" vehicles with airbags...WTF ??? We really do not care that 3000+ people died on our roads. We only care when one of that 3000+ becomes one of our own family members or our selves. We rise up and shout against terrorists blowing up the country..but we do not care about people terrorizing the country every minute with lorries dressed up as buses. We yell about people making bombs and walking around with hidden weapons...but we stay shut about pancake like damaged cars being put back together and on to the street and sold off to people that are nothing but time bombs. We yell about the bakery guy whose pan raaththala is only 90% of the weight of a raaththala...but we stay shut about people selling crap for cars under false pretenses.

  10. Just to share my experiences. We had to exchange our GP1 for a CHR from a Car Sale in Kurunegala. The car was heavily used clocked nearly 160,000 km. Since my wife used it her long daily drive, the interior was in mint condition. Recently, I checked the web-site of the car sale, to my surprise the car sales guys have rejuvenated the car, now it has done only 60000 km . The lesson, never trust these car salespeople either when buying a new or used car!!!!!

  11. Garage numbers are numbers issued to car importers and agents. The purpose is so that they can temporarily drive the vehicle for inspections, testing, port to showroom or buyer's residence or until proper registration is done. You cannot register a vehicle under a garage number the registration is for the garage/importer. You cannot drive a vehicle with a garage plate for long periods of time. The vehicle will be considered unregistered even with garage plates. As an individual you cannot get garage plates. You need register yourself as a business in the industry (I think). The types of insurance you can get for garage plates are limited. It is ILLEGAL for a person to keep using a vehicle under garage plates (because the car will be considered to be unregistered).
