  2. That is just an under-cover piece for the engine. All it does is cover dust and other debris going in to the engine bay. Nothing will happen if you drive with it broken for a few weeks. Just get it plastic welded when you can. The most that can happen as the others have suggested is that it might fall off. As @kusumsiri mentioned..unless that photo was taken in some weird angle with a funky lens (like a fish eyed lens or something) that wheel's camber seems to be off. Do you notice how a bulk weight of the wheel seems to be way too much on to the inner side of the tire ? Interestingly the outter side of your tire seems to be work out and needs replacement soon.

  3. What could possibly go wrong, the worst that could happen is you losing the entire piece before you get it repaired... It's just a plastic shield that protects the engine bay from splashes and such

  5. WOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAHHHH Is the driver's carcass a part of the house paintwork now? Sheeesh. But in all seriousness, it will buff out. Some elbow grease, WD40, a malet, a torque wrench and it will be good as new.

  7. Hello All, So I`ve been wanting to build a car for track use and to have some fun driving around over the weekend. Always had the idea in mind, but my ‘itch’ got worse after selling the Subaru BRZ I had before..! The eligibility criteria were: · Since this is purely for entertainment purposes, the car had to be cheap to buy and maintain. · I am a big fan of well-balanced light weight cars. They are great fun to drive within legal speed limits, and cheap to maintain after been thrashed around in a race track. · Manual transmission and RWD is a must. Other choices/contenders were: · BMW e30, preferably a 325i · Toyota Ae86/85/Sprinter Trueno · Westfied clubman/Lotus 7/Caterham 7 For various reasons, the MX-5 came up top in my list and picked this car up a couple of weeks ago. I hope to document my journey with the car here, as the little MX-5 evolves over time..! The following pics were taken on the day I bought her home Rear view - with soft-top on: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzuOqeXrghn8YWxEX0g4N1hZTWc/view Rear view - with hard-top on: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzuOqeXrghn8cGliX1JHaGE4Mjg Front view - look at those eyes, happy as F#*k..! https://drive.google.com/open?id=0BzuOqeXrghn8SnlqdHJWTVBMSFk

  8. The brakes are quite good in an MX-5, even in standard form. Being the 1.8 litre “NA” series, this car had larger brakes from factory, which were installed in the second generation (“NB” series). I am still in two minds about what to do with the brakes. Going all the way and getting a ‘Big Brake’ kit (larger callipers, possibly dual piston, larger rotors, etc…) Improving the standard brakes with: better drilled/slotted rotors, better pads and braided brake lines With the car being so light, option 1 might require an additional adjustable brake proportional valve as well, to achieve proper brake bias between front and back. Option two would work well, unless the car gets turbo charged producing an additional 100-150HP. With good quality components, I am quite sure that the standard brakes will hold up well during light to moderate track work. I still haven’t tracked the car, so will decide later on. But for the moment, we decided to check, clean and re-install existing calipers and rotors. The front pads got replaced. Brake lines and clutch line were bled, and fed with new fluid. Front pads ready to go in: A big thank you to my father who did most of the hard work:

  9. I am sorry, I had a chuckle reading this. I haven't really explored the options and most likely it is less than the JDM. But the Thai brand new import's stereo is in English and it sort of does the job. I wonder if these units are a straight swap. In time there will be UK market used units as well with more options. But great to read the efforts on getting the JDM units to work and sorry to hear about SD cards being stolen. This is why I hate the Ro-RO method of transport, even if it is cheaper.

  11. A street-racing accident at a roundabout yesterday morning in Sheffield, UK. A Ferrari 458 & Porsche 718 Cayman GT3 were involved and investigators say they were travelling at about 68mph when the airbags deployed. Both drivers were given 10 months prison sentence, 2 years driver's license suspension & 200 hours of unpair labor. The highlight here is HOLY CHEESE CAKES LOOK AT THAT PORSCHE IT'S COMPLETELY OBLITERATED!! The porsche got a free Hella Slam job. And the ferrari's nervous system is hanging out its eye socket. R.I.P.
