  1. you might be able to setup the time properly using the Gathers head unit. As @iRage mentioned Internavi is Honda's system of gathering telemetry data and also providing traffic and navigation related services. In my Civic there's an internavi premium Japanese head-unit (pretty old one) and that updates time based on a GPS signal. But, yes the time is set according to Japanese time zone. However, there was a setting in the head-unit to adjust the displayed time by adding/ subtracting some hours/ minutes from the time fetched via the GPS signal so it displays the relevant time here in SL once adjusted. I found about this setting through a YouTube video as once when my head-unit was removed to fix a screen mirroring device to my car and they forgot to connect the GPS receiver related wire or something and the time was no longer displayed on the head unit. Then they removed the unit again and reconnected but then the time displayed was Japanese standard time. Try to find a Japanese tutorial regarding the specific Gathers head-unit most probably there'll be a similar setting for your head-unit as well.

  2. aha ! Its not the head unit it is the system that the head unit is running on. The dongle is there to set the system and yes some (depending on the model) had a connectivity to ..I think Softbank...to get some telecom carriers services (emergency response, traffic info, etc) Also, as you know InterNavi Linc is Honda's vehicle telemetry system. That dongle is a licensing dongle that has subscription and licensing information for your vehicle telemetry system (it should have some license files and config files for system restoration if you plug it in to a PC). The dongle does not set the time...the dongle lets you open up the InterNavi Linc system and set the various subscription services. When you configure INL it looks for the GPS data for position setting using the vehicle's GPS system (in older systems it looked for the radio time stamp). So it is not that the dongle does not work..it is that the GPS data in SL does not get comprehended by the system

  3. AFAIK only the Scanner can fully reset the IMA. Disconnecting the battery terminals would clear out any error codes (DTC) and force a re calibration of the BCM.

  4. Typical idiotic Lankan-buyer mindset.. I have recieved calls from 7 different people in the past 4 days and and none of them bother to read the description and try to negotiate the price over the phone. One fella told me he had a specific amount of money in hand and is demanding my car for that specific amount and tried to teach me what my car is worth in today's market as he wants to resell for a profit. My mom hearing the convo, asked for the phone and politely told the caller to take a hike. Pisses me off everytime.

  5. VW very reliable in UK, USA, NZ, even in Australia When it comes to SL it is full of horror stories, may be they get escalated out of proportions as bad news travel fast. But i guess issues are mostly due to ignorant owners / poor maintenance/ crappy agents

  6. Hi all, I should be able to add something about the reliability, we had 2 of the VW's as our company fleet, both TDI 6 speed DSG's. DSG issue was a common issue but got it replaced for free under goodwill on 2006 Jetta, other than that only issue was the idler pulley replacement and when we sell them it has done about 150k KM 2010 Tiguan was the other, it had done close to 200k KM when we flick that about a month back only repair was the AC compressure and the turbo replacement but other than that nothing else. in my opinion, they are Super reliable if you look after them. I have heard the Vishwa motors were good and import parts from Dubai or SNG (Ex tech from Vishwa work in a workshop here) They are comfortable compared to the same level Japanese brands and advanced in technology. So I don't think it's a stupid idea to buy one of them if you do have the correct support. Good luck buying a one. regards, JC

  7. There was some snafu surrounding the car assembly plant in Kuliyapitiya which led to Senok losing the VW franchise and needing to establish a separate business unit as DriveOne to handle Audi exclusively. http://www.dailynews.lk/2017/02/08/business/107022/volkswagen-plant-sri-lanka-setting-record-straight The good news as @Crishan mentioned was that the Senok Subaru division at Grandpass now handles VW repairs - the facility was recently upgraded. In addition there are dedicated VW/Audi/Seat group specialists in the form of Vishwa Motors in Boralesgamuwa and Safe Drive in Kurunegala

  8. Wouldn't the VW Polo (R-Line?) Be treated as a grey import? You know what happened with Audi A1s, most of them were grey import so the agent wouldn't service them, and if a recall for a certain fault were to occur and was meant to be fixed for free, grey cars would be charged a certain amount for the repair.

  9. Been and driven the C HR 1.2ltr. Looks funky, handles well, smooth ride. Decent pickup for a small engine, well built. Rear seats are cramped and you feel like you are cramped inside a cage. End of the day its a TOYOTA and will retain market value. Q2 have got no experience but saw 1 on road looks nice but little small in dimension and has got a 1 litre engine. Interior is little old taken from Audi A1. Will have that oomph factor! Coz its an Audi! Both Vehicles are aimed at Youngsters. For me everything other than the rear seats are good in CHR is good for current price. Mind you my friend bought it for 10mn which dint justify its price.
