  3. It’s just a battery, the volts They hold and amps they put out and charge aren’t Japanese, these aren’t even questions to discuss. Jap batteries are Not designed for our climatic variations either there are Importers who take advantage of people and sell Japanese brand new batteries at insane amounts, don’t go all ocd looking for a Japanese battery, and pay premium, and its not the start stop model even right? just go with a popular brand here, they all work manage 2 to 4 years based on usage. personal experiences, Exide works well, Amaron even better, Panasonic expensive but good. spend that money on an oil change

  4. need to be careful with these headlights on ebay/alibaba etc. They don't do well in our climate and develop cracks within a few months. also need to check if the vehicle is RHD or LHD, otherwise will end up not seeing the off-side well at night while getting headlights and horns from blinded oncoming traffic!

  5. An amaron with 4 year warranty would do just fine. If you seriously want a jap battery, then Yuasa is the way to go. Lots of tyre & parts shops have them. @tiv you told something about yuasa batteries having a short battery life when kept under the hood. Does this happen to those wagonR specific batteries or??

  6. importers normally undervalue for many other reasons. If the bank accepts you will have no issue in opening a personal LC for any value you want.

  7. That's rubbish. The importer is obviously trying peddle one of his own stock. In vehicle business, do not even trust your own parents.

  8. keep whatever money you save on the initial costs for fixing problems that may come a few months after water damage

  9. LC value doesn't matter. Customs will have their own valuation for every vehicle and they will use it as the basis to calculate taxes. If the customs value is 3 million, then your taxes will be calculated on that value, even if you pay 1.4 million or 10 million for the actual car. And your logical fallacy is faulty generalization.

  10. On other Japanese car news....apparently the new Mazda 3 is not hitting the sales figures Mazda had been hoping for even 6 months after its release. The new 3 does feel nice..the interior is simple and elegant I like the back..but I really do not like the new front end with the black bezel....at TMS the 3 sedan was blue...and with the black bezel the dang thing looked like a Kree

  11. Usually insurance companies have a clause for agent repair and you need to pay additional premium for this. I usually ask whether they have included agent repair to my policy otherwise I ask them to add it to the policy and include the extra premium. Just check with the insurance agent and also read the policy carefully. I used to have c******o insurance and they have included it in their policy but I had a very bad experience with them (agent forgot to upload the pictures taken when they issue the policy to their system and I found this when I met an accident, and they refuse to pay saying the pictures and file were not completed in their system. The funny thing is they accepted it their fault but no one took the ownership and asked me to chase the agent to upload pictures and complete the file. I chased the agent few times but he said he lost the pictures and asked me to sent pictures and a scan copy of the book and it took them more than two weeks to complete my file. Then they said the time given to the claim is expired and I had to chase the agent again to get the claim. The claim was 16000/- and usually I do not take this type of minor claims but I had to take to confirm my file was OK.Then after the the first year they sent me the renewal amount as 177000/- and the initial amount was 106000 and they have increased 77000 due to above claim. This was not acceptable) So I went with SLIC for a premium 95000/- and they also have agent maintenance.

  12. If you can live with the scratch, just forget it and move on. That's the best option. If you cant, then go for a paint job. You may not get a 100% match on the colour though. It should cost you about 5000 Sticking vinyl is a DIY job really. You can get a few square metres for less than a 1000 and stick it yourself. There are plenty of tutorials on Youtube for vinyl wrapping. I vinyl wrapped a part of Fiat Punto dashboard sometime ago. Removing it was a challenge but there were step by step instructions on the internet for that. For a bumper, it's pretty simple. It is actually against the law to change the colour of a vehicle (even a part of it). But nobody seems to care about that. If you wrap the whole car in vinyl, one or two cops may stop and ask you about it. They may ask you to remove the vinyl, but that's about it. 13. I used Toyota Vitz 2007 1000cc from 2010 Sep to 2014 Dec (as the first owner and usage was 72,000 km during that period). Every things were recorded. Usage pattern - distance from accommodation to office - 12 km. (Colombo city but I report to duty 7:00 am so no traffic in the morning. Heavy traffic in the afternoon) - Travelling Colombo to Matara using Southern express way at-least once a month. - Others are general Colombo city and outside usage Fuel Record km/l (most of the time I do Full Tank. Calculation is based on Full tank to Full Tank) -Recorded minimum = 9.13 km/l -Recorded Maximum = 18.91 km/l (this was during night driving from Colombo to Matara by normal root) -Average for total use (72,000 km) = 12.00 km/l ** The data is perfectly correct as I recorded all the fuel pumped as a hobby. *** Assume Vitz 2016 1000 cc will do at-least 1 km/l more with new features.

  14. Interesting side note.....I had a friend who was assigned to the Ministry of Education through GIZ. The German government was offering quite a few scholarships for German Universities....education there is free and the program was offering housing, monthly stipend, transportation, etc...on top of that. Only hitch was...the applicants had to learn German. My friend was shocked that less than half of the scholarships were able to be filled as most of the applicants were not willing to learn German !!!

  15. I agree that its cheap / good value for money and that its got decent fuel consumption largely due to the CVT transmission; but good interior? What model year are you referring to for the one's I've looked at were pretty cheap looking inside... Edit: Never mind - I just realized you're comparing it to the Belta / Vitz interior which I can't stand, mostly because of the centralized stack. The use of superlatives in your post and in the one above when describing the interior threw me off but when I consider the competition / the cars its being compared to I see your point -superbly!

  16. Yes i agree with you. For the money pad it the best car that you can purchase. Some times we spend 2.9 M to buy overprice under capacity Vitz or Belta. Sometimes we paid 3-3.5 Mn to purchase 1.3L engine Belta or Yaris. So thiis comes with 1.5 CC engine. However i dnt know much about about maintenance of this car. Fuel consumption is in satisfactory level. I saw one owner aid that fuel consumption of this car is 12km/l in city and 17km/l in out station. I dnt sure about it. Major problem is Sri Lankan vehicle market is 2nd hand value of this vehicle it low. Interior of this car superb than Toyota models in that price range. Another good for this price range with 1.5 L engine is Hond FIT Area.
