  1. Why those DFCC owners are all alike? All of them are thinking that they own the best SUV in the world.

  2. Pretty sure I saw that post and responded as well. He's basically gone with alloys that have a much lower offset than they should. I gave up finally, because no one knew what the heck offset was and why it mattered. The closest they knew was that "boku allow weels" cause this. ? I hope whoever replied with this photo was being sarcastic. Won't be surprised if it wasn't though. As for the photo, I think I've seen this years ago and I'm pretty sure this is not something local.

  3. I only went ahead with coop because of their low premium when comparing with others at that point. Plus I had my previous car’s insurance transferred to the new one so I only had to pay the remaining balance. A friend of mine who is with coop told me that it took him a month to get his claim post repairing his car over a small accident.

  4. and this is the reason why used cars in Sri Lanka are a big pile of feces....If you take a used car in Japan, Germany, Australia, Singapore, etc...even the old cars are in good running condition because they replace and repair worn out items so that they remain as close as possible to 100% functionality. When ANYONE who knows how to do an inspection report does an inspection report..it done on the basis of how much items have been worn out from a proper functioning state (with the agent it is based on the recommended thresholds the manufacturer suggests) and recommendations for replacement is done on how much life of it could probably be left from "100%" as you put it. First of all...learn to read the report....it says those components are BAD...which means they are lower than what the manufacturer would recommend it should be and replacement/fixing is recommended as soon as possible. Toyota (or any other agent) would recommend replacing complete units as per manufacturers recommendation. Most of the fix up solutions we use are not manufacturer recommended. For example, punching in bushes in control arms is a common practice in SL...but manufacturers do not recommend it. Their recommendation is to replace the entire arm. Thus the reason the control arm that came with the car runs for 10 years and the arm with the punched bushes lasts only for 5-7, same with the radiator....now...should you take the short cut fixes...it is up to you to determine what would work for you. Yes...a used car that is 10 or 11 years old is going to be worn out..and what the inspection report shows is that it is worn out and needs to be replaced because it is worn out from what it should be...if the report says bad..that means the part is at or is nearing what the recommended minimum level of wear and tear is.. Does the the component have a little bit of life on it left...yes of course...that does not mean it should be used until it is completely broken. Stop being cheap...replace the bushes and stuff. Like some of the members here have told you...all those things that are indicated as bad are things that get replaced in a vehicle at a 100K or 10yr scheduled preemptive maintenance schedule. I am sorry but your known baas sounds like a maka baas. If he was a proper baas...he would have advised you that these bushes are going to be worn out and would need replacement anyway...so might as well change them sooner rather than later and give you a reliable car to drive around in as opposed to wait till it is completely worn out or broken (it might cost you more to fix if the part completely breaks) . So your baas pretty much told you not to follow the manufacturer's preemptive maintenance schedule. How did you and your baas check the play on the steering ? and check the steering rack? When bushes get worn out there could be a slight play in the steering. Such play will not be that evident when the vehicle is sitting on the ground and the bushes are load bearing. As for why the rack is bad....it probably was because seals and and other components in the rack were showing age. Also...wear on the bushes and other suspension components along with continuous use can put excessive wear on certain components on the rack. Again...do not buy a used car...90% of the used cars in SL are crap because of cheap users not maintaining them properly. Buy an unregistered, previously unused in SL, personally selected and imported Vitz. There are plenty of them in car sales. With those...go get them inspected..if everything is clear.....buy it..if not just go to the next Vitz.

  7. Got my renewal next week, SL*C. Premium came as100k for a value 5.5mn. However, there was a claim that I did not get realized hoping to adjust that and will come down to around 85k. Agree with claiming process, have done couple of claims and it was easy dealing with them. And they gave a credit period of 2 months to pay the premium.

  8. j********i charged us 75k for our old stingray covered 3.4mil. Curious..will insurance be the same/slightly higher for an evo 4 valued at probably 2.8mil when compared with the CS Lancer valued at almost the same price. Or is there a skyhigh difference?

  9. Out of all three models, Suzuki wagon R is a better option due to these reason 1. All three operate in 3 cylinder engine. when it comes to 3 cylinder, dynamic balancing and overcoming the vibration have been a challenge for decades. But Suzuki has manged to get around this problem to a satisfactory level. When you sit on all these models in idling, you feel the difference. So better go and experience by yourself rather depending on what others say. 2. When it comes to maintenance, there is no big difference out of all three. But Suzuki engines are very reliable and less wear and tare. I don't agree with the below post of early stage sludge formation. It happens either if you use wrong type of engine oil, delayed oil replacement or problem with the oil filter. Our people are very smart to change odo meters, be careful to get it from a reliable place unless it is not from agents. 3. Interior quality ( comfort, finish) and other options are far better than other two models. In Question: 1. wagonR are, kei models , so they have physical car size and engine capacity limitations. Example you are not allowed to carry three people in rear seat. Other two options comes with 3 cylinder 1.0 L engines. So people think it may be quicker in initial pickup. But for me I don't find any issue , since it uses s-ene technology. During the pickup, it extract additional power from the hybrid battery. If you can manged to get a turbo version it would be far better. But only a few people getting down turbo versions. 2. Idling stop: WagonR is built to save power. so it automatically stops the engine in longer idling times. If you do more frequent stops, it may be a problem to the life of the hybrid battery. 3. Other two models are non-hybrid. So if you worry too much on hybrid battery life and replacement cost don't go for a wagon R. Usually you don't get any problem with the hybrid battery within first 5 years. But our car dealers are very smart to swap the batteries with unused cars. what is the mileage of this car ?

  10. Total cost of ownership will be your initial cost+ fuel costs+ maintenance costs etc. For example if service costs are high for car A but it does good on fuel and Car B service costs are low but does not do good on fuel eventually the total cost of ownership might be the same. So don't think ONLY about fuel consumption. As for the Axia - it's a simple but solid car. Peroduas have fared well in SL (Kelisa , Viva etc) You get it from the agents and u***mo are one of the better agents out there. Out of the two other options the wigo is more or less the same as Axia but more expensive. The wagonR will give you more bells and whistles but is more expensive (assume you're not buying a used one)

  11. Just my personal experience as I was in Malaysia for almost 3 years...Perodua is not at all a bad car..If the agent providing spare parts at a reasonable price, I would say it's a better choice than going to a brand new Indian crap..

  12. This vehicle is one of the best vehicles China has designed ever.Looks Volkswagen Tiguan from the front ,Honda CRV from the side and Kia Sorento from the back. It is a seven seater SUV which is quite specious inside with a feeling of full blown SUV when driving. It is rarely seen in the roads yet , however its road presence is elegant .Its 200mm road clearance is very safe for Sri Lankan roads . It has a 1500 cc turbocharged engine with a Punch Powertrain Continuously Variable Transmission which is made in Belgium . This engine / transmission combination is very economical comparing what same range vehicles has .However you should know how to use this CVT to get the maximum benefit of it since it is not just a regular Automatic Transmission.
