Well - to be honest you can't. As Crosswind and Presea said don't worry too much if the car is in decent condition. My dad bought a ridiculously tampered car in 2004. it was a 1996 Sunny and after 8 years it had around 45,000 kms... we knew it was fake but still bought it cos it was in decent condition - gave very little trouble over 11 years of ownership. Of course there are subtle things that give it away - interior wear and tear (specially observe the break pedal - I once came across a car quoting ridiculously low mileage but a horridly worn break pedal and some rattly interior bits that gave it away) . another example was a car that had done ONLY 23,000 km but it was not having the original tires the owner came up with a lame story that the original tires were 'ugly' so he got wider tires or some thing like that . usually - non mainstream cars odo's don't get tampered a lot there are couple of reasons : buy and sell folk are not interested in them. The average mechanic knows to tamper an Axio odo but maybe he's a bit hesitant to tamper the Odo on say a ford. Have you watched the movie "pretty woman"? if not, do it asap and then you will not feel bad about the mileage anymore you should take the main actress (who is a whore- played by julia roberts) as an example and then you wouldn't mind about how many owners it had and the mileage anymore This was taught to me by @matroskaand ever since then i dont care about mileage and number of owners anymore so will you

Well, you were marketing the Cefiro A33, And you had your car listed for sale on classifieds sites... I guess you even paid to advertise your car on the "quick" site so you're not fooling anyone when you say you just wanted to see if the Cefiro has a good demand in the used car market... And really, if you don't intend to sell your precious Cefiro, you wouldn't care of its demand in the 2nd hand car market anyway. You lied about spare parts availability for the Cefiro in your first post did you not?

When start/stop button is pressed without brakes, car can be put to "ACC" and "ON" mode. May be the OP is referring to that. Assuming Aqua is similar to allion

The argument @matroska is trying to make is that a modern F1 car has a tiny 1.6L turbocharged engine which is significantly more powerful than a 2L engine say on a Cefiro. So you simply can't say things like "I don't like cars that have smaller engines than 2L because they are less powerful". That's just an ignorant comment to make. I know this car... it's exactly his fathers car.. i went to inspect this particular car while I was looking for Cefiro's few months back and didn't buy it. Now the question arises.., if it has so much demand as he claims why isn't it sold until now for over 5 months? I went to inspect the car because this same description was given in the advertisement too and it made me wanna go buy it, but when I actually saw the car it made me wanna puke, sorry not sorry. Not condemning your car but you need to do an interior cleaning and bring the interior of the car to proper order as the interior condition is poor and seats has been abused the reason I didn't even take your car for a ride after coming to inspect is because I was highly dissatisfied with the condition of the car I'm mentioning this here cuz I don't want to see a fellow A/L member falling for this bulshit and wasting his time... you have mentioned in the advert that there is not even sound when the engine is started. I just wanted to ask "Are you deaf?" at the time i came to inspect the car, but then again didnt wan't to waste my breath on it too... so like I said, spare us the bulshit please and don't mislead people here..

I would also agree on not buying hybrid too much old. Once you spent 3.6million after year might have to spend money on battery. Also hybrids are complicated machines ( which means too much to break ). If it is relative new one then ok. You will have several years without issues. I would suggest consider other options like new Vitz.

I have imported 0 millage Toyota Aqua (date of 2014/11) last January and 5400 km ODO as of today. I have all written records up to now. My usage pattern -1 km distance from my accommodation to office (which consumes more fuel due to short distance twice a day) - I'm going Matara (my home) using Southern express way once a month. - Others are general Colombo city and outside usage Fuel Record km/L (Full Tank to Full Tank) -Recorded minimum = 15.6 (Car reading 16.1) -Recorded Maximum = 25.84 (Car Reading 27.7) -Average up to now = 18.56 Generally I observed 0.6 to 1.9 less between actual to car reading may be due to issues in fuel pumps. Comparison between Toyota Vitz 2007 1000cc I have used Toyota Vitz 2007 1000cc from 2010 Sep to 2014 Dec as first owner and used 72000 km that period. Every things were recorded. My usage pattern -12 km distance from my accommodation to office at that time. (Colombo city but I report to duty 7:00 am so no much traffic) - I'm going Matara (my home) using Southern express way once a month. - Others are general Colombo city and outside usage Fuel Record km/L (Full Tank to Full Tank) -Recorded minimum = 9.13 (No car meter) -Recorded Maximum = 18.91 -Average for 72000 = 12.00 Conclusion - 54% increase observed in Aqua comparing with Toyota Vitz 1000 CC - By studying the fuel pattern I guess, the Aqua average will increase up to 22 km/L if I drive at least 30 km per day (15 up & down) for my office travelling. I think no one having this much of comprehensive record. so I posted this for your reference.
