  1. This looks right since not so advanced. The thicker wires are power supply or also motor control output signals? Whats on the other side of PCB,you have a photo? First need to confirm what type of speed input is used, analog,digital,serial..in order to confirm before fitting if it works at all,you have to Provide a suitable impulse to the sensor input and see if the motor responds.

  2. This looks like just analog inductive sensor, isn't it? The speed has to be processed to a digital signal which the EPS computer can understand. Which signal type depends on the EPS unit you select. It could be frequency,PWM modulated or both. Or if its a new EPS, might have a serial communication interface which can be CAN,LIN,SENT protocol or something unique to the EPS manufacturer. It might even require special permission from Another computer to be activated, since steering is a safety critical function. It would be better to select one of the very early EPS, since such additional features will be much less.

  3. you need a circuit which would convert the wheel speed into a voltage that corresponds with the voltage curve adjusted by the knob. Easier said than done because 1.wheel speed of wheels can be different depending on if the vehicle is turning,so which wheel speed to select? Assuming you got the wheel speed issue sorted out, 2.what is the correct assistance level for a particular wheel speed so that it would feel natural? (too much or too less assistance can be un-natural and the former can even lead to an accident) If you only need a solution during parking, then a manual system like this would be best IMO. with an additional feature to cut power supply during speeds>20km/h or something might be semi-automated digital solution(only If the EPS column does not generate unnecessary resistance when not powered) Good luck and let us know how it went! BTW this might be a simpler solution if it works. https://americanpowertrain.com/i-8580036-ez-electric-power-steering-for-street-rod-and-customs.html

  4. The test is supposed to conducted at idle and then at 2500 RPM only. However, I've seen many operators at emissions testing centres race the hell out of the engine. Sometimes before the test starts. I've argued with one or two of these fellows and told them off on multiple occasions.

  7. With that big-fat warranty kia give i wouldn't care less about a rumor. make sure the ex-owner gives you all proper documents.

  8. Kia gives 5 year or 150,000 km warranty for Kia Picanto, if you faced in to this issue when you reach to 60,000 km (you have another 44000 km) take it to the agent, if it is a manufacturing fault they will fix it for you. One thing, you need to maintain the Picanto at agents (Malabe or Kurunegala service centers) to maintain the warranty. If you purchased this Picanto from the 1st owner, ask him to transfer the warranty under your name. My wife has Picanto 2016 purchased in March 2017, it has 5 year warranty and I'm also in Kia Picanto club Facebook group and not one has reported this kind of issue or rumor.

  9. If it is a rumor, why you are worrying....?. Leave it....?

  10. Well said...?. What is the big deal in getting an emission test?

  11. The same applies to many other countries as well. As for you thinking a car with just a few km does not need an emissions test is simply based on your own presumptions. In any country if a used car (i.e. a car not sold through the manufacturer's agent) is imported it will have to go through a rigorous inspection irrespective of the mileage (and age) before it is even allowed to put on the road. Following that, it will go through the same annual/periodic testing requirements of the country. It is just that in SL the testing is antiquated for testing both during import clearance and periodic road worthiness. On top of that Sri Lanka has the added problem of crooks bringing in piles of junk with modified meters, etc... Now.... in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, etc...where the cars are manufactured; theoretically, even a brand new car rolling off the production line, does have an emissions, road worthy test that has been "performed". It is in the form of something in the sort of a certificate of conformance that is issued by the manufacturer for that country. Now following that, even in other countries irrespective of the mileage of the car; you still have to get some sort of test done on a periodic basis. Just like in Sri Lanka and its the "emissions test". In Japan, a brand new car, after its first three years has to go through the road worthy test every two years no matter what the mileage is. (the owner has to do an annual vehicle check-up..which for the first three years is covered by the manufacturer). In Vietnam it is similar, however based on the age of the car and how much you are willing to pay in upfront taxes they will let you certify the car for either 12 or up to 18 months. So, although you might feel it is ridiculous, in fact there is logic behind it. Remember, although it is not obvious in SL, the government does need to enforce policies that cover a whole range of scenarios/circumstances in the most efficient way possible (again, certainly not visinle LS governance). In fact like I mentioned earlier, all cars, even if they are Hybrid, EV or ICE they should have to go through a far more comprehensive road worthy test (that is appropriate for the type of vehicle). To be honest, I can't understand what the big fuss is. Getting the emissions test takes less than 20 mins and a few thousand rupees. Compared to like 200USD ++ (in Japan it can cost up to 1700USD), it is actually nothing (if your car is legit)

  12. How you are sure the ODO meter is not reversed. There is a notorious meter board technician near Soma Devi Place, Narehenpita. May be the guys sold the car from Japan might contacted him and reversed the meter by giving few bucks....:). I know there was a Fiat Punto car which was advertised with 229K kilometers few months back. After 2 weeks the same car was advertised with 106K. Then after a week the ODO meter value for this car came to 23K and the ad specifically mentioned as a low mileage car. So who can be sure about the mileage?

  13. The issue is common to both the local and jdm models The bearing is not shielded from the elements. An inferior unit the have used. They've washed the undercarriage, screwed up the bearing and chickened you off saying that it is a factory fault. There are cars running in Taxi companies well over 50000 (current model) and some at 80000km ( older model). They just change the oil and run. No issues no warranties not even li-ion battery failure. Never leave your car at the above agent. There have been incidences of material being stolen and shuffled from the car for lesser parts. Also this particular bearing can be pressed out and replaced with an NTN bearing and used cutting the cost to 5000 ish. Rather than replace the whole assembly. Plenty on those fb groups. Do your research.
