  1. If you are a fan of DIY it's a simple fix. I repaired my left side mirror (replaced exact plastic gear mentioned in the video) after a motorcycle guy hit it and auto folding stopped working. Took me like 3 hours but I did it following this video very carefully. I found the plastic gear from panchikawatta after much struggle(There is this shop in a small by-road, they only do side mirrors. I've attached their business card. Call them and see. They might have another thrown away FD left side mirror for you to salvage the gears lol ) Good luck!

  2. I have imported 0 millage Toyota Aqua (date of 2014/11) last January and 5400 km ODO as of today. I have all written records up to now. My usage pattern -1 km distance from my accommodation to office (which consumes more fuel due to short distance twice a day) - I'm going Matara (my home) using Southern express way once a month. - Others are general Colombo city and outside usage Fuel Record km/L (Full Tank to Full Tank) -Recorded minimum = 15.6 (Car reading 16.1) -Recorded Maximum = 25.84 (Car Reading 27.7) -Average up to now = 18.56 Generally I observed 0.6 to 1.9 less between actual to car reading may be due to issues in fuel pumps. Comparison between Toyota Vitz 2007 1000cc I have used Toyota Vitz 2007 1000cc from 2010 Sep to 2014 Dec as first owner and used 72000 km that period. Every things were recorded. My usage pattern -12 km distance from my accommodation to office at that time. (Colombo city but I report to duty 7:00 am so no much traffic) - I'm going Matara (my home) using Southern express way once a month. - Others are general Colombo city and outside usage Fuel Record km/L (Full Tank to Full Tank) -Recorded minimum = 9.13 (No car meter) -Recorded Maximum = 18.91 -Average for 72000 = 12.00 Conclusion - 54% increase observed in Aqua comparing with Toyota Vitz 1000 CC - By studying the fuel pattern I guess, the Aqua average will increase up to 22 km/L if I drive at least 30 km per day (15 up & down) for my office travelling. I think no one having this much of comprehensive record. so I posted this for your reference.

  4. i was a auto electrician in toyota lanka , what ever other say don't repair a hybrid battery , we also did that several times but the result was so bad, you can do nothing with a waste battery , and if you thinking for a recondition battery make sure to chek the battery before replace , but now you can repair your battery, replacing all the call to new ones ,and no worry to afried about battery within 5 or more years (eg; prius have 28 cell , replace all 28 cell to new ones) , it cost less than other maintenance , there are brand new 2018 japan battery with warranty , chek it out

  8. I also had this problem in my previous Honda FIt GP1. This happened after a truck knocked the side mirror (driver's side) to the other side, so I turned it back to the normal position. After that auto folding did not work. So I showed this to a local garage in Kandy and removed the cover and checked, the mirror assembly has small plastic gear wheels to make the auto folding and few teeth were broken and it slipped from the connecting gear wheel. So we positioned the gear wheel correcting and mated with the other wheel, then the auto folding worked but few hours after it did not work since few teeth were broken in one gear wheel. So only option was to replace the side mirror but I did not replace it and kept as it is. So the driver side mirror is not folding but the other-side mirror is folding. Just check whether you have the same issue, if the gear wheels are broken, you need to replace it. The local garage took 950/- to remove the side mirror and check and it was a 45 work.

Fuel consumption figure is almost same as at 5,400 ODO (18.56 km/l) and 59,000 ODO (18.19 km/l). * Driving pattern - Always at Eco mode but No caring of fuel. * Service and Maintenance cost includes new tire set valued Rs.60,000

  12. Sad to say but i wrote personally to Nissan Japan and Nissan India. I had a Nissan Xtrail HT32. Two of my friends' 32's packed up and both were sold as is for very low prices. Quoting these cases i wrote to Nissan , but sadly the response was that Japan : As the vehicle is exported they are unable to support. However, they have requested the local agent to look at the possibility of helping local grey import X-trails. India also responded in a similar way. There is a local guy in Marawila who claims that he can repair the GBs and gives a 30K Km warranty albeit at a cost of 400K+. Also there are two guys in Kalalgoda & a famous auto gearbox repairer in Thalawatugoda area who have rectified the issue in some cars. But the owners still complain of abnormal jerks in the car. I've personally checked with a few friends in Japan who mentioned that they can send it down at a landed price f about 500K . I think the agent quotes something above a good 1 million for replacement. Nissan is quite notorious in the CVT gearbox area where, always their fixes have been to replace the full gearbox rather than repairing , where multiple vehicles including Altima, sentra and sylphy (not the same gearbox , mind you) are being affected in countries such as Aussie. But all these instances the Nissan authorized agent has replaced the GB , free of charge. Sadly, Sri Lanka is affected by the grey market plague due to price differentials. My advice is run to as much as possible now, as you anyway cannot to a diagnosis of the issue beforehand. Some blogs in Trinidad & Tobaggo suggest frequent gear oil changes (15,000kms) would kind of delay the issue. But until the 2017 HT32 , the issue would still haunt you. However, mind you, i know some HT32s who have done 90,000kms without any issues. Its basically the problem with one of the gearbox component suppliers from Austria - thats what i've heard. Sadly, the DC GB is designed by Renault , which we should've known earlier. Sadly, the manufacturer nor agent is willing to atleast publish the chassis numbers of the affected vehicles so that a) Affected owners know they will be hit and prepare themselves b) Non affected owners can have a peace of mind. Not much of recon items for the rectified gearbox in Japan as well. Also, pls be aware of a rumor of possible failures in the brake booster and AC compressor as well. Projected cost for each of these repairs may exceed LKR 200K each, as you would be compelled to use b/new parts from the agent. i've only encountered 5-6 cars of this nature still, but there may be more cars out there. Weighing all these possibilities i had to let go of mine at a loss of a good 2Mn ++, although she worked perfectly to me until the sad departure. Very comfy and easy to drive albeit the horrible pulling power or rather lack of. Its' your call - as a friend i will advise you to exit now as still teh vehicles are new , and since it's a hybrid you might be able to get rid of it, rather than stranding with it down the time line , formally achieving the "lemon car" status. All of us know some Nissans which have been granted the honor. It was a very good car, which served me well for two years, and lot of fond memories. " Damn you Nissan" ....?
