  1. My sincere advice to you is to stay away from baic x25 i own one and it comes with so many issues from day one 1) fuel efficiency within city is 5.5 km per liter ( not exaggerating) micro is not bothered to rectify this for me 2) no warrenty even manufacturer warranty for cheap tyres which went flat twice and micro never bothered to replace for me 3) there was a deep scratch in the body on the day I bought it but gt it painted free 4) so much rattling noises from dash board and back . Addressed this issue 3 times but not resolved 5) no spare parts for steering 6) very slow pickup for a 1500 l engine and not easy to overtake 7) wheel disc were all rusted and got them all painted for free 8)as a member in this group said if you don't know much about mechanics of car then they try to fool you by sayin 5 km perlitre is normal until the warrenty and free service period ends 9)I spoke to another owner whose AC was not working 10) vehicle is not sound Proof and not air tight either as foul smell from outside enters the vehicle as you pass by any fountain or carbage areas All in all stay away from baic x25 42.5 lake would go down the drain if you spend in this vehicle as the second hand market is also low even though it looks good in appearance do not buy baic x25

  2. Just because a car is unregistered do not automatically think it is going to be trouble free. There are a lot of junk cars being imported to Sri Lanka....some are accident repair cars and quite a few are high mileage cars with the odometer tampered (so when things like battery packs, timing belts, clutches, transmissions, etc...start going bad they think the model is bad because the odomoeter would say 30k or 40k when in reality the car would have done a much higher mileage. Also, in the same manner, do not think that just because a car is registered that it is going to breakdown every weekend. It is just that you got yourself a bad EE101 that probably was not taken care of well and perhaps dressed up later on for a quick sale. If you literal about the car being at the garage every (or every other weekend) I would urge you to consider a different garage as well. Unregistered or registered you will have to do pre-emptive scheduled maintenance work..it is just that an older car might have a slightly longer list or different items to be looked in to than a newer vehicle . In SL when you are buying a car off of a Sri Lankan dealer you need to treat unregistered and registered cars the same way. GET IT PROFESSIONALLY CHECKED ! Agents do them and there are quite a few third party organizations that do Car Checks now a days. As for which car suits you...depends on what you actually want to do with the car. The Wagon R is a city car with a 660cc engine. Will do fine in traffic....will manage to get around on the highways...but will suffer under load. As for the Yaris...well larger engine...more power..more space....so yeah...what will you use the car for ?

  3. If you buy a used car manufactured in early 2000; you may have to do few repairs here and there. No matter how well maintained they are; it is usual to come across a repair or two here and there. But; definitely you won’t have to spend the additional 10 lakhs you save by not buying a brand new one on those repairs. There will be few other benefits as well and it’s up to you to decide. The comparison would be as follows; Buying a reliable used car for 20 lakhs Low cost in spare parts. Easy diagnosis and low labor costs for repairs as the models are well known by local mechanics More spacious than the brand new hatchbacks Some may even have more options than the brand new ones Better value in resale You can remain debt free (invest your cash, go on a trip or too, By some fancy stuff, donate to charity Oh.. the possibilities :D) Buying a new car for 30 lakhs Better fuel economy Peace of mind due to less repairs and company warranties Sense of accomplishment in owning a new ride Opportunity to Impress the neighbors, “Pretend” friends, relatives, nagging in-laws etc. etc.

  4. Hi all, Please suggest/recommend a place to replace the windscreen of my Kia Picanto 2005 as there are plenty of Wiper scratches. I tried a lot to remove them using different methods but didn't work. It is very difficult to drive at night with this conditions. I called Samarasinghe Wnndscreen and they said the cost will be 15k for a new Japanese Windscreen with fixing charges. Also said that there will be 10years warranty for the windscreen. Is this reasonable? or there are more options? And, I would like to know the performance of these windscreens available at Samarasinghe Windscreen. Do they similar to original windscreens?? What about the visibility specially at night and on rainy days?

  5. So They expect the battery to burn at even some rate. Knowingly putting such batteries in cars should be considered manslaughter.

  6. wow, that looks really bad. Tesla even saying the battery has burned faster than expected in the design. No matter how well the battery is insulated, the massive shock from a head-on collision like this will be transferred to the battery. And it could trigger the "Thermal Runaway" scenario as mentioned in above cause-effect diagram.if a hard cover is used around the battery, the whole thing could explode due ro rising heat and pressure.I think the Hybrid and EV makers will also have to think of some shock absorption methods for the Li-ion batteries, not just insulation and fire proofing with hard cover as it is today.

  7. Depends on what purpose you're buying a car for? A brand new car would be better in-terms of reliability, features. A used car on the other hand will give you car options maybe a level higher, better resale as its already depreciated, better/low cost spare availability. Quoting from your example itself, the Picanto, WagonR would be what you'd call kei or mini cars whereas Sunny, Civic etc would be proper C-segment sedans. If you're a young person who wants the car for casual usage on weekends, holidays etc I'd say save some money go for a used car. You'll have a bigger safer car to travel in & when the repairs do come you'll be able to learn a thing or two about what ticks inside. As long as you buy from someone who has maintained the vehicle well I'm assuming this cost won't be much. You can easily research on what parts generally wear out & check them for proper function before-hand. Plus you can research on specific models for known defects as older cars will have much information available on the internet etc. If you're someone who's primary purpose is to get from point A->B on a regular basis with less time to diagnose, research on car matters, I'd say go for a brand-new car & use it until it makes sense to sell it at the prevalent market rates. The brand-new vehicle would depreciate faster hence you may end up using it for longer. Space/comfort wise it maybe a compromise but you maybe getting more features/options compared to an older car. There's plenty of discussion on the topic in this forum so please have a look through those as well.

  8. The front looks like a Tacoma so it also has the squinty eyes and the high wide bonnet of the Prado and supposedly the next gen LC.....the rear shape looks a bit like a Jeep Grand Cherokee...

I want to know the status of the car ordered, whether if anybody received the car or is it on the incoming shipment. It would be great if anybody could be of help. Thanks!!

  10. My 2015 Axio will also struggle to achieve momentum on a relatively steep hill, it's down to how the power is delivered to the wheels. Switching off Eco will help things.

  11. yes ,maybe except overcharging and External short circuits(by jump start only, not after accidents) which could be avoided. This diagram of Internal-Runaway and Cause-Effect Relationships from an Autmotive Research Journal(Sorry no English version) shows in detail.

  12. Take the car to 'C*r Ch*cks' in Kohuwela. They are quite good in what they do. You can check them out on FB before going. The price you pay for the inspection is worth it because they will give you a comprehensive report which would come in handy, incase you do end up buying the car. Cos you'd know what needs to be looked in to after buying. Good luck.

  13. Hi, Even it is a Mercedes Benz imported by Micro, I will not recommend to buy it from them. These people will strip you and disappoint you form the very first day you buy the car. Based on my own experiences I would recommend to stay away from Micro. Some of the experiences I have: 1. No responsibility of importing spare parts timely, it will take months for importation. However, they will say a new shipment will arrive in the next month. 2. Often no spare parts in stocks 3. Lot of cheating to grab money as much as possible, especially if they come to know you are not much familiar with mechanics 4. Ever increasing price of spare parts, as there are no competitors. 5. Even there can be assembling defects from the company, they will not take any responsibility if the vehicle is out side the warranty period.

  14. Real world driving of an Axia has given me 10-11 KM/l in the city, no more. Have heard the same figures from at least two other people whose opinion I trust. So really, you're better off with the Picanto.

  15. Your fuel figures are NORMAL for an old 1500 CC car Don't believe in anyone who claims their FB15 does 14-15. That's b^llsht

  16. Not that amazing because Warakapola to Gampaha you have a drop in elevation of about 70m for the 33km run. To be more realistic you should consider the consumption over a return journey.

  18. Sorry about the delay mate, loooong weekend is over. It is called Favourite Super Market in Kayzer Street. It is bit difficult to find as it has a small entrance. Anyone will show the place if asked. Go to the first floor. In the ground floor you will see a hell lot of clothing shops. Enter the building and turn right there is a stare case to 1st floor. In the first floor there are 4 ,5 electronic item shops. You can search all the shops. I bought 2nd shop once you entered to the 1st floor. 2458895. As these are whole sale shops always a hell lot of people there, so they might not answer you phone calls nicely and give detailed descriptions of the items you are looking for like professional dealers. You know this is pettah. So better visit the shop.
