This is illegal. According to Motor Traffic Act, any modification to the structure of a vehicle can only be done with the written consent of the Commissioner of Motor Traffic. In Sri Lanka, the 'selective application of law' principle prevails over any law. For example, this morning, I noticed cops were trying to chase all vehicles (other than buses) away from the newly implemented bus-lane, except for a white Hummer.

this is quite a vague question. Does the car start at all? (you later mention it happend two times?) does the car crank? There could be a 1001 reasons for a car not starting. Dead Battery, messed up starter motor, fuel line blockage, empty tank(since you were asking about it earlier) etc...please provide more info so that the folks here could help you out.

Probably you gear lever switch ( using that name for a lack of a better term) may be worn out. So only when you jiggle it the car will recognize that your gear position is in Neutral (N) or Park (P). By any chance did you have the gear lever at R or D when you faced this issue ?

@evin You could have asked this question in the same thread that you had already on your car. Now you can request mods to merge topics. As @matroska has pointed out (and in addition to info he requested) please provide more details like whether it happens randomly or when the engine is cold, when it starts with a cold engine whether the engine RPM goes up and slowly comes down, what you did to get the car started after those two failed attempts, any Check Engine Light (CEL) indication on the dashboard, any idea if a tune up has been done recently etc..

I saw this. First time I'm seeing a Galant special edition. Honestly, this is one rare occasion I don't know what to say.

I had VVT set ups in both a 121 - a daily runner for 6 years, and a SCP10 as a second car. Although we call it a filter, it is just is a flimsy metal screen. I used to clean the OCV filters once in a couple of years in both cars but never thought of replacing them. In the manuals I have come across so far it has not been identified as a regular maintenance item. In fact one must be very careful when re-installing the filter to avoid damage to it - something I wouldn't trust in the hands of most local mechs. (The correct procedure is to insert the filter to the Allen key head first and then insert both to the engine block). A partially clogged filter would NOT reduce the STATIC oil pressure but will reduce the flow rate to the VVT vanes thus giving you a slower response to the required change. (If it is totally clogged up it would definitely generate a CEL). Hence it is worthwhile for OP to look into it along with a check on the fuel pressure as well.

I think this was one of the few facelifted V35's that made it to Sri Lankan shores. I remember seing it parked in the Wellawatte area many times when it first came down and it always looked in mint condition. If so some of the issues on the pre-faceifted model was rectified in later models- such as the faulty CD changer etc you mentioned the steering was comparatively heavy- if you are used to the EPS rack you may feel that way. The steering in the v35 is an old hydraulic setup and has a very meaty feel to it. But get it checked out. Transmission is not the smoothest either - its a traditional automatic and not a fancy CVT but its not bad. Let us know how it goes

read about the V35 model online first.then take the car to CarChecks to get a proper idea about the state of the car and then to Nissan to diagnose any issues and related costs to replace/repair. then you can decide whether to make the decision or not.

From next day on wards, they (shop owners) will do same thing again. Because they know that, nothing will happen. No body will come again for next few years and court case will take 5 - 10 years. If CAA really need to implement the law and order, they have to visit regularly and do on-the-spot fines above 1 million instantly. Why our authorities - officers - waiting (to execute their duties) until minister asks to do everything. Don't they know about the spare parts mafia in panchikawathta since 20-30 years

Matroska is right. About the fuel light thing; do you own the vehicle or looking to buy one ? if it's the latter you are nuts Btw! I have kinda the same vehicle, the amber color fuel warning light comes when there is like 1/8 of the tank remaining. Should be about 6-7 litres remaining. Do the math to find out the answer to your question.

Yes... The video-graphy has improved quite a lot (you guys even got a helicopter to do fly overs ! <--- sarcastic humor) Sound quality has improved a lot...editing needs to be a bit more smooth...sudden cut offs..sudden changes in sound levels, etc... So a few questions: 1. By pushing it a lot and staying within a higher power output band did you effectively reduce its range ? 2. Presuming you could have gotten to the "next-exit" or a charging station. How long would it have taken to re-charge ? 3. thought it was funny how you considered getting stuck on the highway being bad but getting stuck on a normal road not bad Personally I thought you guys covered a lot more in your Allion/Premio review than the Leaf review though Also, perhaps you should just have one thread for your reviews ?

I owned a V35 for 4 years. And it remains the most fun car I have ever owned. Cried like a baby the day I had to part with it because it was such a hoot to drive, but it was time to grow up and I had so many other commitments. Let me give you the run down: My car was a dark blue 2001, JL 2**1 plates with a rear spoiler. Since I owned it the car has changed hands atleast twice and it was in mint shape when I sold it. The engine was pretty bullteproof. Regular oil changes. De-carbonisation done at autoforce every few years since its a DI, high carbon build up was a major issue. So make sure the previous owners have done the same. Parts, I replaced shocks which came to around 70K a pair at the time. Some suspension compontents are made out of alluminium so its very expensive, but A*W stocked parts and so did Pioneer motors at Panchi. The lower arm ball joints wear out very quickly on our roads. Any decent lathe shop can repair it but they break again in a few months and cause some rattling up front, but its liveable. Otherwise you have to replace the whole arm because the ball joint comes with that and that's made of alluminium and an expensive fix. Other issues was the stock BOSE CD in dash CD changer gets stuck and chews your CD's and is not fixeable. Then the AC control unit and the Stereo and everything is all inteconnected or something. That happened once where the AC was stuck on full throttle and I couldn't shut it off and had to replace some electrical component which cost a bomb. Other than that, I replaced an air flow sensor. Radiotor top tank blew and I replaced it, and the cooling fans which I imported through the agent because I couldn't find any in SL. I think the fan cost me around 40K to import. Brake pads wear out fast, but those were available both at Pioneer and A*W. Keep in mind that I last owned the car well over 5 years ago so I don't know how things are now. Let me know if you need any more info. I loved the car. It was quick, comfy and at the time got me plenty of attention-maybe a bit too much! And it sounded lovely when you rev it. Beautiful weighted steering that all these new EPS systems truly lack. Such an underrated car.
