  1. The noise I mentioned earlier was there for some time. I did not replace the rack even mechanic recommended it. somewhere in the forum I read, for these kind of issues first do a wheel alignment as it will sort many problems including vibrations etc. So went for a wheel alignment few days back. Once the car was placed on the lift for wheel alignment, front-left tire was shaking. The issue was the loosen nut in the tie-rod. Tight is firmly, did the wheel alignment and voilà all the rattling/annoying noise go away. Hail ! autolanka...

  2. The usual process that service guys do in ATF change in my car-eventhough it is not axela, even not a mazda, 1.They suck out all the oil from the gear box by a suction pump through the openimng for the dip stick. 2.put app. 2l of ATF and run the engine few minutes and put the gear liver back and forth few times and suck the flushed oil again. 3.remove the sump and filter and wash them and refix them. 4.Put new oil up to the level. I don't know wether this is a wrong or obsolete way. But if this is the way it is not like changing the engine oil and you can not DIY if you do not have fair bit of knowledge.

  3. Don, judging by OP's profile pic I don't think his Mz3 is CVT (only the latest model years had CVT). Your recommended ATF is M-V (it would be marked in your ATF dipstick) and although you can try substitutes, you cannot find a reasonably good one for cheap. So my advise is to stick to M-V. I changed my ATF on the Axela 2 months back and here are the quotes I got for genuine Mazda M-V; Colonial - 19k (ATF + labor) Mazna - 17.5k (ATF + labor) Carmart - 17k (ATF) Asiri - 16k (ATF) Rainbow - 13.5k (ATF) > negotiated down to 11.8k for a 4L can and replaced it myself (drain & refill ++) (My old ATF was not bad in color or smell but I felt a slight lag/slip in transmission and was a bit low on the dipstick)

  4. For JDM models/cars their valuations are pretty close to the pre-sales tax price indicated by the manufacturers in Japan. So if you go to the honda website and look up the pre-sales tax prices for the Honda Accord range they should be pretty close to what customs would use. Obviously the actual Rupee (and dollar) value would change based on exchange rates...at least that is what I was told about 1 month ago by some customs people.

  5. so you're saying you BELIEVE everything in these ads? so do you beleive that anlene actually prevents osteoporosis? that fair and lovely makes women more attractive to men? that using whisper pads will give women ability to hop around like they were peter pan's Wendy on the moodiest day of their month? people will say anything the buyer wants to hear when they try to sell a product mate. and you can't compare maintaining a merc with a japanese vehicle. merc parts are really really expensive. and if you buy a used car you have no idea wha'ts wrong with it, until you start having problems, which you will, and then you'd better have pockets so deep that the word "budget" shouldn't even be in your vocabulary. there's are two type of people who will buy a merc: 1. the newly rich mudalali types who have as much class and taste as their money can buy and want a merc for the sole purpose of showing it off as a symbol of their wealth and power to the less well endowed people they associate, as those people only recognise a "benz car" as that very symbol 2. a true enthisuast of the three pointed star who appreciates what mercedes embodies, and is truly passionate about the marque. such a person of course, wouldn't give a hoot about the expenses, and running costs. he would pawn his left testicle even to make ends meet so that his car is in strapping condition. there's no middle ground. there's no "average" merc owner. so you need to assess where you stand in this scenario, and then make your desicion. if its neither, then maybe an allion 260 with all the bells and whistles is more your number

  6. If you are concerned about fuel consumption and maintainance cost and you do not have much knowledge about Mercs, maybe it isnt the right time for you to buy a merc.

  7. I know diesel is cheaper Jeeez, fine ill do the math for you Cost of importing = 3000£ Cost with taxes ( assumption of 30% tax)= 3900£ Cost in Rupees = 3900 x 175 = Rs 682500 Cost of installing = 75000 Total cost of the project = 757500 /= Okay so lets assume the diesel does about 8Kmpl And lets assume that you dont do any engine modification or repair to your current petrol engine, so ideally as you stated it would be around 3kmpl. Cost for 1 km with the petrol engine = 125/3 = Rs 41 Cost for 1 km with the diesel engine = 76/8 = Rs 9.5 Difference in cost per 1 km = 41-9.5 = 31.5 rs so lets see how many km you have to drive to equal the cost of keeping the petrol = 757500/31.5 = 24047.6 km So you would have to drive 24047 km to equal the cost An average person drives about 30 km a day how many days to drive to equal the cost = 24047/30 = 801 days Years to equal the cost = 801/365 = 2.19 So ideally you have to drive 2.19 years contentiously in your monetero before you save any money. And given the fact that you say you have other vehicles i highly doubt you will drive the monetero all the time, so ideally you will have to wait about 3-4 year for you to actually notice any save ! Complicated math for you ? in short simple English "its not worth it" ! BTW i got to ask, what kind of company lets their employees modify their company owned vehicles ? Also if you live in England ( which you have mentioned) why would you even care about a vehicle in SL and its fuel economy ?
