  1. Posting on AL after a long long break I believe making a BBQ grill was discussed a few years back and thought of documenting my build as a build log here so it will hopefully inspire another to do the same. Or at least help to avoid a few issues i face during my shot at this. As of now, i've complete about 80% of the build. Another two weekends and i should be through to the finish line Simply put...I love beer and grilled meat. Have a been huge fan for a while and i've been using two grills at home. One was this large oil drum grill i got made from a weld shop a few years back It got the job done beautifully. Have had many great times with friends and family with many cold ones. The only real complains was that it was really poor in aesthetics, wasn't portable, was prone to rust, fire box wasn't good, and had no way of controlling the heat I had it for good five years and have used it pretty often. But now finally it's started to show age and rust away. I also have a smaller portable grill that used to go in the truck with me on trips and the likes. Its store bought... highly portable but quite small in size and flimsy. I do love DIY and consider myself to be a tool addict Over time i've collected a bit of equipment so thought of building a grill myself as a weekend project. Objective was to fix or at least reduce the issues i had with the large barrel unit. Make it portable so it can go with me in the truck without taking too much of space etc.

  4. Visual check is enough but the mechanic should know what to look for. The general rule is that when you place a new pad inside the drum (I mean before you install it), the liner contour (curvature) should be slightly smaller than that of the drum. In fact most of the liners are eccentrically ground to create this effect so that when brake is applied the middle part of the liner engage with the drum first. Of course after sometime the liner would get worn off according to the drum contour. However, if the new liner happens to engage with the drum at the edges (ie liner contour bigger than that of the drum) first it may get overheated, tend to lock wheels and eventually fail before it gets sufficiently worn off to align itself with the drum surface.

  5. Guys.. Seriously what’s wrong with your attitudes? I was asking a legitimate question. I wasn’t asking what to look for when buying an illegal vehicle. I was asking what to look for if buying a vehicle that doesn’t have everything in its original status. Like many have discussed in AL, vehicles with legitimately modified or new bodies fitted with legitimate documentation. If you are not willing to share you knowledge or doesn’t have anything productive to share don’t bother commenting. BTW if I’m correct I posted this thread on the section that is clearly mentioned as LEGAL and Ask for Advice.. DON’T BUY is a good advice for an illegal or shady vehicle. I was not referring to any such thing in my last question to The Don.

  6. Dear newbie, There is a topic on hybrid news that you can share this on. Please post there, before I rape you. Yes that's right you heard me right. I will rape you. Cos that's what I do to newbies (apparently). http://forum.autolanka.com/topic/10202-hybrid-and-zero-emissions-vehicles-photos-and-news/
