  1. Two types of scams can happen: 1. Pump operative based: they can short change you. Pump less than instructed etc. my wife was once duped for 1500 when the guy pumped 1005 and said ok done. And quickly reset the meter. She was watching the pump but got a text and he used the opportunity. Luckily she's one tough cookie and despite him clearing the pump got her 495 worth of gas. They can also do what they did to you 2. Owner based highly organised. The station just after thunmulla before police park recently got caught for swiping the clients card twice in succession. They would then forge the signature from the first slip onto the second. If you don't have text alerts, you wouldn't know until the statement came. This was discovered again by a set of vigilant wives who complained to the authorities and the owner is now in jail. Or, like you said, they can reset the pump calibration, but this is rarer because the cpc regularly checks the pumps, and there's a standard issue liter bottle for measurement at every station (required by law) and you can use it to check the pump. Like I said. Just get out and look the pump-uncle in the eye and tell him how much. Problem solved

  2. 11 Reasons why a squatting toilet is better than a toilet bowl 1. You dont need to sit where other people's asses have been You don't know where these asses have been or what's been in these asses right? So it's always better not to sit but squat 2. When you let off that earth shattering f*rt, its closer to ground It's closer to ground means the aftershocks are less and it gets diffused pretty quietly 3. You can aim better You can move your position and aim better... straight to the drain hole. Only horizontal movement is needed. 4. No spillages Even if there were spillages, its just a matter of watering it straight to the pan 5. You can be semi-clothed while using it Especially if you are wearing a sarong 6. Two-way access to the bidet or toilet paper Try using the bidet (or toilet paper) from front, without getting your hand soiled, if you are using a toilet bowl 7. You actually don't need a cistern No you don't. All you need is a big bucket of water 8. Easier access to the cistern (if you have one) Remember those old-school cisterns with a hanging chain? The chain hangs at the right height, next to your hand. There's no need to turn around to pull it 9. Intensity of the fragrance is less According to Toiletarial theorem of hybrid synergy smells, the fragrance of a toilet is inversely proportionate to the distance from the toilet bowl to the person's nose. Hence it's lower in a squatter 10. You can be in series or parallel and it still works I don't know what the hell this means but it sounds like a fancy reason to like something or the other. 11. You can actually smile to the person next in line You can actually smile to the person next in line to the toilet and all 100 people after him and say "That was a good sh*t", if you use a squatting toilet Now let's discuss guys. What do u say... why do turds in squatting toilets have less resale value???

  3. Wow!! So much animosity & hate here. Still it's always interesting to read threads where the admins & hybrid lovers gang up against each other Adding something to the topic at hand, I believe the long term battery replacement & service costs will diminish the hybrids 2nd hand market considerably. Also given the constant innovation in the field the hybrids, updates are quite rapid causing models to out-date itself quite fast. Also considering the very long term, hybrid cars are not that Green due to many reasons (energy intensive manufacturing/machining process - light-weight alloys, toxic battery manufacture using earth's rare metals). I'm sure this has been highlighted by someone earlier. Ideal situation is far-thinking governments should strike a balance when promoting such products in their countries. Recycling NiMH or Li-ion batteries are costly & even technologically advanced countries like Japan take the more economical way of disposing their multitude of hybrid vehicles recon to eager countries like SL Recently I was faced with the dilemma of selling of my perfectly capable Honda Fit(GE6) & upgrade to a hybrid. Bad peer pressure I guess lol.. With the market down that meant I had to fork another Rs. 300k-400k to get a hybrid (This being the Fit Hybrid GP1 which is the cheapest). Problem was I only do around 1000km a month & that would mean I had to drive the hybrid for another 5-6 years to recover the excess. God willing if the battery fails by then I'll be royally screwed with no way to recover. The lesson learnt was that hybrid or gasoline it doesn't make a big difference in the long term. Hence i settled to drive my trusty GE6 until I'm able to upgrade for a more capable drive, hopefully a Civic or an Accord. Rather than worry about fuel economy I prefer the satisfaction of more spirited driving & leaving some ***holes eating my dust once in a while

  5. Any petrol station will dupe you if you aren't aware of what's going on. Instead of being a lazy bum, 1. Stop your engine. 2. Get out of the car 3. Walk to the petrol cap 4. Then tell the attendant how much you wanna pump. It's that simple mate.

  6. Follow the recommended tyre pressure in the user manual or indicated in the B pillar as Davy said. Those people you mentioned might be hypermiling and trying to get maximum inches per liter.

  7. The correct tyre pressure should be indicated on the B pillar or the inner side of the driver's door in your car.

  8. Well guess we will have to wait for google voice navigation, Their maps are great. Still without the voice navigation intrinsic problems crop up, specially when you arrive at a junction as to which direction you must turn. Most of the time it is straightforward, but sometimes one will have to adopt a trial and error system. Furthermore driving only on navigation simply based on pure viewing is a definite distraction on Sri Lankan roads.

  9. ...and this how you push people in to panic buying/selling situations... My question is, how much of gas are you planning on saving in the long run? How much of running do you do? Is that cost worth the change? Just because a Hybrid does well on petrol and if you don't run more than 1500kms a month, then it's a waste of a bigger investment, yes? My advise is, if you have a perfectly good car, which the Axio is, why change? Just because everyone else is jumping on the Hybrid bandwagon? My car does less than 6kmpl on a good day, and I do run a lot (2000kms+/month)... but after taking in to consideration the cost of a new hybrid, the insurance, the potential headaches, I have decided to stick with gas guzzlers for the time being. Don't base your purchase decision on current trends, do it taking in to consideration your own income levels, expenditure and the practicality. If you don't run much, then there is no point in saving on gas, right?

  13. Chams, please. Just argue the point here. Did your rant about supra add anything to your point? Seems like you need to man up. Put your money where your mouth is, and brush up your English. This is not elakiri my boy. The arguments here for hybrids crack me up. Are you guys living in the same Sri Lanka that I'm living in?

  15. You have hit the nail on the head... So what will happen to hybrid owners if they want to sell their vehicles...? No one is there to buy them... I cant afford to buy a vehicle which cannot be sold.. Is there anyone who thinks otherwise..? And Don,Its understood that you cant think of the future for the current needs......But I think in real life you have to if you dont have more money to play around..
