  5. Mr Money Maker, I m not sure you have instilled the right name for yourself and since you seem to feel you have the capability of calculating car prices by looking at the internet let me give you a lesson on the duty and price of this particular car Valuation given by the customs - 23 000 Pounds Price of a sterling pound on the day of duty calculation- 205 SLR Age of vehicle for duty calculation - 1 year Depriciation scale- 80% Duty Percentage for 1600 cc vehicles = 200% Duty for this vehicle on the day of clearing = 23 000 X 205 X 0.8 X 2 = Rs 7,544 000 And the dealer price of this car would be between 19 000 -22 000 pounds depending on the mileage, condition and year of manufacture If you take an approx figure of 20 000 pounds then the SLR Price would be approx = 20 000 X 205 = Rs 4,100 000 Which would give you a landed price = Rs 7,544 000 + RS 4 100 000 = Rs 11 644 000 This price is also without shipping and insurance which is another Rs 150 000 approx These price have been calculated at a pound rate of 205 and the current rate today is 208 for a sterling pound You obviously do not seem to know the difference between the standard DS3 and the DS3 racing. Mr money maker i would not waste my time explaining to people like you, but on a public forum if you come and try to teach BRJW on your knowledge of the local car imports with prices without any proof then someone like you should be dealt with. And my advice is you better not take to car imports any time soon cause with the prices you offer you can name yourself Mr Charity. And for your information the car has been sold.

  9. Joint Moderator Mr.Pericles, I totally disagree to your post. Plantation was my ancestors first did in Colombo Ceylon. Dutch brought our families from down south to kollupitiya to plant Coconut. My entire family and fore fathers grew up in Polwatte Kollupitiya. That is in recorded in history. A short note taken from the web. The Polwatte begun by Ambanwela Rala became so prosperous later, that according to the late Mr. Gamini Samarasinghe, the prolific banker - writer, either in the late Dutch period or the early British period a brewery commenced here turning coconut treacle to liquor. The beer turned out had been of such high quality that it had been very much in demand and had at one time was exported even to towns in South India. The house in which lived the head of this brewery business, according to this writer, is the nucleus of the present Temple Trees! However, Ambanwela Rala's progeny, perhaps who did not flee with him to Kollupitiya to escape the king's wrath had got domiciled later at Ratnapura. So Ambanwela Rala, the temporary bachelor, hailing from the Kandyan backwoods was very adventurous and reckless as to plan the overthrow of a powerful king, and then by a stroke of luck has his neck saved from the scaffold and comes down to the lowlands and signs his way to become the proprietor of an extensive coconut estate is really the author of present Kollupitiya with its soaring skyscrapers, maddening traffic and thronging crowds. This is part of my history in Kollupitiya Colombo. All my ancestors did plantation very successfully in every part of the country they lived happily and left all of them to their future generations to come. There can be natural disasters like recent Tsunami. Like what happened to British plantation in first years of their occupation in Ceylon. Later Tea was planted. Now days world had advanced much more than yesterday, even what you read on your monitor if because of advancement of the modern technology. I do not want to discuss about the past. You have Quoted from Bible to me and requested to give the other cheek if you are slapped to one cheek. Watchmen I have ignored him. He has a habit of joking to me on this forum for my posts. Moderators should look into this. Watchmen started first posting a post to my post with a negative reply. On investment. Which I have given facts. I have reported him number of times on the request of moderator. Moderator have done the justice. Other members will laugh on this Automobile forum. this forum is started for posts must contain automobile related matters to discuss. With their experiences. I amend arguments and unpleasant posts accusing each other. Let me end this. Sylvi Wijesinghe.

  10. The Lexus RX400h hybrid has six cylinder engine. If the diesel SUV that you have in mind "that can get 10-11 km/l for years on years" is less than six cylinders then you're trying to compare apples to oranges, and making an unfair invalid comparison. Which is precisely why I asked you specifically to name a six cylinder diesel that can match the six cylinder RX hybrid fuel economy. So what is this 10-11 km/l diesel SUV that you were referring to? . .

  11. Members, If any member wants to monitor the charging system always can buy a ampere meter. Get that installed correctly to the electrical system of the car. Clip on ampere meters are available they are expensive but it saves the trouble of wiring. Mostly Electricians use for testing. Amp meter will cost, with wiring Under 1000.00 Rupees. Then driver on the way can monitor the charging rate on the normal driving conditions. Motorist wants can fix a DC volt meter. To monitor the battery condition. Volt meters are cheap cost for wiring and meter is not more than 500.00 Rupees. Both ampere and volt meters instalation has to be done by a qualified electrician for correct amperage wires. If not the system can damage. Sylvi Wijesinghe.
