  1. That itself IS the problem buddy. If everyone started driving in their own lanes and stop manouvering thru traffic, the congestion on the Sri Lankan roads will be much lower.

  3. I don't think anyone should make investments at a place based on what kind of tv or smartphone they are offering. Take a look at their financial reports and compare them with others and find an organization that would be the most stable based on historical data, not free smart phones. Also, if you are looking for financial advice from an automotive forum where anyone can say anything, well, you have already failed. If you want the most stable investment, go with 24k gold. I think you should invest your money with sakvithi.

  5. Actually no they don't.... The split grill that you refer to: the signal+parking light cluster is slightly different. You will notice that the signal light is surrounded by the black plastic distinctively separating the signal light from the parking light. The previous grill the signal light and the parking light are kind of joined up, it makes the parking light look longer and the signal light is a bit taller than in the other model Obviously the two grills and parking light clusters are inter-changeable and through-out the years have seen quite a few cars with mixed light/grill combos. Sorry the following are the only pics I could find right now where the body is more or less un-adulterated. They both seem to be GLs,, where the grill had the white /silverish garnish around it....might not be too obvious but the distinction is there (even in the smaller pictures you posted)....

  11. You mean to say you want both "winkers" to light up constantly, in bright yellow, when driving around? Man, that`ll be like wearing a couple of earrings with LED`s and walking around.

  12. Dude why are you so surprised... It's sylvi's customer to begin with.. if the customer is gullible enough to fall for a 15,000 windscreen polish, a 225,000 bodykit probably sounds like a bargain i guess

  13. Hi,, I can only comment on Lancer since i have never owned or driven an EK3... Mine is a 2001 brand new imported car which has a 1.3 carb engine.. yes, its having a carburetor. car is very spacious and comfortable when compared to the others in its segment.. Its handles pretty well too. what people say about the pulling power is true.. its bit under powered, but if you are not in to drag racing, i dont think it would cause you much trouble when used as a daily runner.. Most of the CS1 i've seen are manual, so the pulling power thingy wont give much trouble when overtaking and etc etc,,, 2001 CS1 does not have Air Bags, power shutters and ABS. These are the minus points of the car as far as i can tell.. I've owned my car over 3 years and driven over 50 thousand Kms. Driven it to almost every corner of the country.. Jaffna, Bati, Kataragama, Nuwara Eliya, Kady, Riverston and what not.. Some of those were over thousand Kms and have never faced any issue.. Car has good ground clearance. i've driven it in very bad roads with a car full of baggage & people, never hit the undercarriage on the ground.. Fuel consumption depends on your right foot machan.. outstation it easily does 14kmpl and in city heavy traffic, its 10 kmpl.. (With A/C and four people on board). No issue with the spare parts and maintenance. Maybe its not like finding parts for a Toyota but its not difficult at all.. If you could expand your budget a bit, the best bet is Lancer SC3. It has 1.6 EFI engine (With lot of Power) and comes with Dual Air Bags ABS and power shutters. I'm sure Davy will explain more about the CS3 as he owns a one.. Also please do a forum search and you could find lots of info regarding both cars.. Cheers!!

  16. Unlike the Nano, Toyota hybrids are Toyotas and have a history of reliability and durability. It's almost certain that the Prii taxis aren't going to turn into Nanos, and give the taxi owners problems like the Nano taxis did. Especially considering that they have been used around the world as taxis for over 10 years now, and have proven their reliability and durability. World's first Prius taxi driver reports the Prius taxi paid for itself in 24 months through fuel savings and lower maintenance costs......... http://www.autospies...-no-time-17638/

  17. Fair enough to advise a person to not buy a hybrid because one feels that the support facilities are not in place island wide. Ultimately car buying is a personal decision and a potential buyer should make their buying decision based on what they feel comfortable with. But it's interesting that these same fellows who advise against buying hybrids because they feel the support facilities are not enough island wide, don't have a problem with people buying other cars (say certain Euro cars) that have even less support available island wide. If someone drives a Porsche outstation and it breaks down and strands them, the parts and repair know-how are not available outstation island wide. Using their logic then no one should buy a Porsche or certain other euro cars because of the lack of the island wide support facilities. But these same fellows never tell people not to buy those cars. Double standard?

  18. Hold on Don. The scenario being discussed is what happens when a person is in the outstation and their car breaks down or needs support, not what one's experienced mechanic can or can't do, or the caliber of the car owner. If someone is driving their sophisticated Euro car through the outstation, through, say, a remote part of the Eastern or Northern province, and the car breaks down and leaves them stranded, it's just not reasonable to assume in that situation that an experienced enough mechanic who can do the job will be around. Or that a mechanic will even have the right tools and right diagnostic equipment for that car. While it's true that Hybrid Synergy Drive is sophisticated and beyond many mechanics, you're not taking into consideration the fact that the hybrid system is the most over-engineered and over-built part of the Prius. It's not factual or reasonable to automatically assume the hybrid system is what will have a problem. If an Prius owner is going to have a problem with their car, it's far more likely to be with some other conventional part of the car than the hybrid system. The first paragraph of my previous post was all about accepting the merits of other people's arguments. . .

  20. Bottom line Supra: it's very premature after only 2 years to proclaim that electric cars are at a dead end and hydrogen cars are the future because hydrogen cars haven't even gone on sale yet, and when they do they face as big or even bigger obstacles to mass adoption than electric cars. . . .

  21. Short answer: hybrids will never reach the current 2012 cost, sales, market share, and infrastructure levels of conventional vehicles in SL or any other country.

  22. What a wonder, this thread seems as if it was opened for me. I am also in the same situation, looking for a car below 2mil. I am stuck between the Civic KE3 with VTec & The CS2-Lancer / CS2A-Lancer Cedia. After all these comments from experts, I feel going for a Civic EK3 with Vtec would be better than the CS2.

  23. Agreed. I've never written that electric cars overall have been a sales success. I'm just saying that hydrogen cars also have a very long hard road ahead of them for sales success and market share success. The link you provided is for the California Air resource Board which is for California charging stations only, not the entire U.S. My numbers for the number of U.S. charging station is correct. Check wikipedia. 13,967 charging stations in the U.S. as of Oct 2012 is the latest data. FYI: The first hydrogen refueling station opened in the U.S. in 2000 so they've had 13 years to develop the infrastructure. The reason it hasn't happened is because the infrastructure is very very expensive to build even for firstworld countries, and there are not just enough hydrogen cars on the road to justify the expense. I hope you can see the big problem facing hydrogen vehicles. People won't lease or buy hydrogen vehicles without the infrastructure in place, but the infrastructure won't be built until there are enough cars on the road to justify it. Electric cars don't have this problem because electric car chargers are so cheap and small. They can be installed anywhere there is a parking spot. Thanks for the interesting video, but James May is conveniently not mentioning the fact that oil is used for less than 6% of the world's electricity generation so electric cars will not be affected even if the oil runs out tomorrow: Forward to 53:25 for the counterpoint: . . . .

  24. Members, There are plenty of advertisements today on news papers with attractive interest and telephone calls, daily requesting to deposit money on their investing establishments’. Personal callers also visit to homes and offices, to get investments to their investing establishments’ most of these establishments follow the advertisements who advertise on papers of their products. My personal advice for investing in anywhere in the world is land. I am going on my seventy have invested on land bought a acre of land for rupees 10000.00 in1980s sold after 30 years, fully replanted an a acre for 1 million. Replanting development cost 1 acre. Over 30 years did not exceed Rupees two hundred thousand. Including Three PH Electricity Two tube wells Water tanks for drip irrigation I have done investments in PB to words my daughter later after 20 years or so did not pay the agreed amount the book carries a clause, the bank have the discretion to adjust the returns as they wish. I have saved money to all my workers for their children at Com Bank, which they guarantee a fixed amount when the deposit mature. Do not know they will honor that or not. Sakvithi is no more there are many small timers in Colombo and around suburbs operating invest meant business with they follow them self very closely. They study first the person whom they are going to trust. Meets their lenders daily collect their dues daily. I know them because they come to get my service. Who rent few cars and lend money also. One who started in SL. Serving in UK for ten years at the age of 35. No assistants only one driver. He do everything on his own by 10 a clock in the morning he finishes all his car renting work also contact his car renter people at least once in 5 days, gets the car back every month for one day give a replacement car for that day. Do lending money also. Then afternoon after 3 PM keeping a track of his lenders collect his interest or the agreed amount, on the due date. Use a motor cycle for his travelling have a three wheeler also for his domestic work. Many people cannot do this. We Sri Lankans everyone wants to make money quickly by sleeping at home. 25. Supra, for a fellow that continually gets his facts and information wrong (see the other hybrid thread for your latest blunder) you sure are talking big. And all my posts are just the common thinking in the U.S. Call that idiotic if you want to. p.s. you're also demonstrating a very bad habit that some of our dear fellows seem to have - making personal scores and grudges more important than having correct facts and correct information. If this was an international forum, warlords obviously wrong information would have been called out and corrected. But you defend the wrong information even though you know it is not right. Thanks for dragging AutoLanka below international forum standards. . . .
