  1. Ummm... I don't suppose anyone would care that this is a re-post and this has all been discussed before? Many, many moons ago.

  2. lol. this is what happens when a person try to help others. He did not by any chance tell anyone to adhere or comply with his suggestions. its upto you to follow it or dump it rather than criticizing to show others you are good at criticizing. he has clearly mentioned that he got it as a share message from one of his friends, friends could be from anywhere in the world, probably the reason why he mentioned something regarding the pumping by our own

  4. Guys, the change of temperature has an effect on the volume you pump, it is correct. But the issue is how significant............specially for a country like us where the day to night temperature change is not that significant. Mind you the underground tanks has more stable temperature due to the fact they are shielded by the soil working as an insulator. The issue becomes realistic when the pump pushes the fuel out and reaches the ambient temperature. The following link shows a study done by Australian government to see the actual realistic effect. The conclusion is that the effect is minimal across the vast continent and across different temperature changes. And it is not cost effective to install correction devices. http://www.energy.ca.gov/transportation/fuel_delivery_temperature_study/documents/Australian_Study_1996.PDF Fuel vapor does not get leaked to the environment in significant quantities as all fuel circuits in modern vehicles are closed circuits. The vapor trapped in the tank is circulated through charcoal canisters and recirculated. There is some truth to the last point, where the under ground tank content get stir when a bowser unloads. The pumps has good filters to make sure the contaminant which are floatable does not come out. But things can reach your tank. After reviewing these facts.........my personal view is I do pump when it is needed or convenient. But I do try to avoid to pump from just after bowser unloads. Rather worrying about the vapor and all, I try to keep the engine in shape (air filter, throttle body etc...), tyres with correct pressure, boot clear from junk, and avoid jack rabbit driving styles. And do Italian tuneup time to time

  5. I know the two, dude. The girl is the fiance. Excited about the car, judging by recent FB status msgs. Well, I'd be excited too, so that would seem a sorta redundant statement.

  7. Wow there seem to be a lot of people around here who just jump in when someone is being criticized, yet when a poor chap needs help they are no where to be found. It's also amazing how many new acccounts are created each week, just to try and insult me. Lol.

  11. You don't need to be worried about the transmission. The symptoms aren't related to any transmission problems. Check if any hoses and electircal connectors aren't where they should be. Should take you one minute to inspect it. Does the car seem like it's misfiring when it's idling or at low speeds? could be a vacuum leak or thhey disconnected the Air flow sensor. Also is the coolant temperature normal? Usually though, after a tuneup the main problem would be the mechanic failing to reconnect a hose or sensor.

  13. and now I know why you became a pro member, thats because you talk something which doesnt make sense, and keep this forum a place to chat your personal stuff. plus, if there is a proper way of awarding a status of a 'pro member' I see no basis that you could become one if the requirement to be a pro member is to discuss something which is relevant to this page and not attacking someone for the simple reason you were here for long

  14. there are some manner and form how a criticism should be made and not in an unprofessional way, for the simple reason you are a pro member, it doesn't mean that you can talk all the shit you have. according to you ' my ass' is a proper way of criticizing, first time Im seeing such an ethical way of criticizing as you impliedly claim. I dont wanna say u to getta life, but cant help, you may getta life. lol

  15. Did they mess around with the idle screws while tuning? If so, u just need to get them adjusted. AFAIK playing with idle screws is something that shouldn't be done. My other suspicion is a malfunctioning cooling fan. You probably got a two-speed fan which runs at a lower speed and doesn't provide sufficient cooling. However, when the AC is on, the fan works at a higher speed and provides enough cooling for the car to run smoothly. If this is the problem, a workaround would be to get an electrician replace the fan or get it to work faster even when the AC is off. But please wait for some more opinions from experienced members of the forum.

  16. ROFLMAO. Not far from the truth. In reality, mine's pretty much 100% intact. I won't mind stocking up on some ancillaries like lamps, relays, few switches here and there. Car already survived a rear ending by a 3 wheeler with only a dent. Can't say much about the tuks though... Contrary to popular belief, Italian mechanical parts are easy to come by. Panchi has an underground Italian dealer netwwork who knows their Fiats and Alfas like the back of their hands. I found a tandem brake booster in a dark dingy corridor for 6K. Italian cars have one of the longest histories in SL and the Panchi dealers relfect this as they are 2nd or even 3rd generation shop owners. The Nelum Motors fella inherited the shop from his grandfather. Prinko 'Uncle' has been there since 'Sreema's times'... Its the trim items that worries us poor Alfa owners...

  17. 1. Yeah. Use the bus. 2. There is a place called Juki workshop in Pepiliyana. They specialized in Korean, AFAIK. Their work was pretty good, but to be accurate, I haven't been that way in a couple of years, so I don't know about their recent track record.

  18. Thanks whmsujith, the points are valid, actually I always try to pump early morning around 6:30, its kind of a weekly routine now since I pass the shed on my way. The other good thing to pump in the morning is since there is less movement in the pertol from overnight the amount of sediments mixing in will be less . Also your point on the pumping at high speed is valid since the pump works on a flow meter and at high speeds air bubbles are generated more. However the benefit of all these could be very less , but no harm since it does not cost you anything. Would you mind elaborating a little bit more on this, and please mention which shed you had this issue ?

  21. Guys this is only the beginning. Govt is going to charge 50million non refundable license fee from brand new car importers. All the brand new vehicle importers going to be very rude and so expensive to future customers ..so be prepared for the worse..enjoy the bad now because you and I are proud citizens of 'land like no other'. 24. Proton. Personna should be within budget, certainly looks good. Also, the agents are good, unlike all the comments Kia has been getting recently. There was also that Fiat with the multijet diesel that Supra reviewed on MoTorque. Maybe VW is a possibility? Skoda? Even that Insight from Stafford might be possible, not sure what the going rate is on the brand new.

  25. To be honest, there's nothing wrong with the viva in itself. It's a pretty decent car for the price. It's the agent and the p*ssies buying it thats the problem.

  27. I'm so curious, How did they register a car without owner?? Surely, You signed the M.T.A. papers without seeing the car. Why the hell did you do that in the first place... You have a registered car that you never saw... UNOMO done bitching thing, No argue. But as a customer you should be more practical.. How can you be so sure, that registered car isn't a faulty one..

  29. Omg!!! sylvi's back!! I was worried something happened to you bro!! Anyway in addition to the cost of the engine you have to pay a conversion tax of 250,000 to the RMV (and a few more thousand for other paperwork and greasing of palms) So the 200k or the engine and 250k for the RMV alone is gonna offset any fuel savings you might have in converting it to diesel.
