  2. Only reason we buy Hybrids is because to the tax, its more affordable than a similar petrol alternative... however if diesels are at the same level of tax will we even think about hybrids. If you check the VW diesel engines they are so much more eco friendly, efficient, and more reliable than the Hydrids. However sports car designers like Ferrari and Porsche are using already proven Hybrid technology into further increasing performance, but don't think give monkeys about the enviroment.

  3. Care to read the whole thread from the begining ? Most names you mentioned are already there. Also this nick name thing is not 100% accurate as no one keeps a bibliography of them. Even certain names you mentioned are not widely known for that matter.

  4. Guys, check KFL's other threads, he has a shoe string budget, no point in talking about spoon engines n mods. Now ordinary spoons, perhaps he could afford, maybe even some decent chopsticks, but engines, no way.

  5. Boss speakers? Do they boss you around, while you drive? I've got all above except cd loader and 'boss' speakers - so does that make my car a mutant model?

  6. Easy solution; remove the NOS tank, lower the boost to about 1-2psi and add massive shopping cart handle to get down force and gain some weight so the car has more grip and less power No on a serious note, its quite normal for an auto to do that if you are not very light footed. I think you have driven manuals before this ? if that's the case this is quite normal, its just the way you are use to.See in a manuals when we stop and go uphill in the middle of a steep road we usually clutch balance or we brake (obviously with the left foot on the clutch) either way when we want to move we first press the accelerator and rev up the engine and let go of the clutch smoothly. Even though the engine is at a bit of a high rev the clutch interrupts the power delivery and gives a smooth torque curve. But if you drive the same way in an auto (let go of the brake once and floor the accelerator) there is no in between manual mechanism to smoothen the power delivery so the entire torque of the engine produces are given to the wheels instantly and when this power exceeds the static friction barrier the wheels loose grip thus creating wheel spin. "when you step on the gas, the engine speeds up and pumps more fluid into the torque converter, causing more torque to be transmitted to the wheels. " So ease up on the paddles there bro

  7. If you use a VTEC EK3 with stock exhaust it wont make much of a noise. The low quality exhausts available in the market makes the car sound bad. Also if a good exhaust like HKS or 5zigen is used it wont sound bad

  9. No, unless you attach a fart can or someother straight-thru muffler to it. And read the video's caption it says the car has a non-restricted exhaust manifold and an aftermarket air intake, and probably cat-converter removed. So that explains the noise at high revs.. Hehe maybe "Ferrari noise" is what inspires people to rice their cars to have "Ferrari noses"

  10. You both make very good points, Nexus and Watchman. I have watched the air pollution and smog in Colombo get worse and worse and worse over the years. I can see the change over the city from the windows of the high rise building I am often in - there is a grey pollution smog over Colombo now that was not there only a few years ago. People I know who live along busy roads have to keep their doors and windows closed - otherwise the interior of their homes get covered with a layer of diesel particles from the vehicles passing by on the road. Who knows what these diesel particles are doing to their lungs. In my observation most of this vehicle air pollution in Sri Lanka seems to be coming from the hundreds of thousands of old buses, lorries, and vans plying the roads. These vehicles seem to be the pollution problem much more than cars. Yes, it is true that most Sri Lankans are unaware or clueless or don't care about air pollution - even if it is silently killing us, and costing the country billions of rupees in unnecessary health care, lost days of work, and a lower quality of life for everyone. Maybe these people don't realize that the vehicle emissions pollution situation in Colombo is far worse than any developed country, that foreign visitors find the air pollution disgusting, or that the cost of pollution in unnecessary medical expenses and lost productivity because of respiratory illnesses is much than the cost of a emissions control system for a vehicle. I put responsibility for this on past governments of 30 or 40 years ago who did not have the long term vision or thinking to mandate strict vehicle emissions controls and standards for all vehicles sold in Sri Lanka. They took the cheapest, easiest, laziest route and now there is a big problem that will take a long time and a lot of money to correct. Much more than if they had done things right in the first place. Well, at least now the govt is making efforts towards reducing pollution by having emissions testing and lowering tax taxes on hybrid and electric vehicles, etc. And at least as individuals we can have the intention to be environmentally conscious, and then make choices and take actions to be environmentally responsible in our own lives.
