  1. Yes 4 yrs back when i ordered a santafe my aunt in USA told i've done a blunder and that hyundai has got a bad reputation there also, But now all has changed she has also bought a hyundai new sonata selling her camry and my cousin is also bought a 2011 facelift sonata. But i think the translation will be slow in sri lanka as the people are obsessed in the resale of the toyotas and rightly so because the price we pay is not for the car but the taxes. But as the korean market devolops people will like it more and the market will increase and the resale will increase, so people who are only coserned about earning from their cars will also buy hyundai s and the market for japs will decrease. The transision continues European to Japanese to Korean so in a decade nice jap cars will be available for small cash like audi's vw's and volvo's now. If that happens i'd buy an 2010 allion then for Rs.1.5million

  2. I see quite a lot of the Korean SUVs on the road now though. They're quite popular. It's true that the Toyota mentality might never fade, but if Hyundai and Kia stay on their roll, we might see a lot more vehicles in our market.

  3. Actually most of the members and the seniors ( i dont know who you call seniors but i guess its the people who's in the forum from the beginning) are not that interested in Hybrids, most of the AL members "that i know" are who like "performance cars" im not referring to the guys who install a so called "beat barrel, Air Filers, big body kits" and brag i drive a sports car. most of them i know enjoy driving their cars, but you hybrid guys come to the forum and post billions of thread about Hybrids everyday, there should be a limit, cus most dont want to buy a vehicle to drive from point A to B in economically as possible, for them Hybrids are worthy having. but for the rest its a headache to see forum is flooded with Hybrid threads.

  4. Your cousin has good taste in midsize family sedans. The Sonata is a brilliant & seductive car even ride quality is better than Honda Accord.I assume your aunt also bought a 2011 Sonata.Hope they were one of the early birds, otherwise it's a 10 month wait.Yikes!!! Btw the new generation of Audi & Volvo are exceptional cars these days. They will retain their value well.

  5. So u calm down after using u'r p-use but i always get mad when i see one let alone driving one. By the way the petrolheads here who spend their time talking about cars love cars and do not use them as tools to go from A to B or as an investment to get more than they payed when they sell it (which wouldn't happen in the case of the p-use) So go else where manipulate some beetle chewing toddy drinking mudalali to swap their allion with a p-use.

  7. You mean like Kyrons & Actyons & Tata Boleros? I suppose.I always like to fantasize that if there was only like 10-20% instead of 200% import taxes in SL we'd have exotics & premium sedans rolling down the street like Dubai

  8. not being a fan of SUVs i hate to admit this but i think that the SUV buying bunch is more a more progressive one than the rest. non main stream brands of SUVs have a decent presence in the island.

  9. True. Most people here are very conventional & fear to take a leap of faith. But I remember passing through KIA every week a few years ago & not even bothering to look inside the showroom because I though they were rubbish, only looked at Nissan with their Cefiros & Muranos & such & coveting them .But now I do look @ KIA when ever I get just to see whether they have a new model (Like the Cadenza which still isn't here). Later I found out that Kia had been putting out good quality cars since 2005.(They beat Honda in quality tests) (BEFORE THAT THEY WERE DEATH TRAPS).I'm sure the public will come to realise this. I recently saw a 2011 Sorento had done 20,000Km & was on sale for 8.6mil in autolanka. My dad's friend had bought a full option one for 7.5mil only(when it first arrived). Now a brand new full option sorento costs nearly 9.2mil.

  11. you have made a good choice. one of my mates just got a brand new Sorento after a 8 month waiting period! not sure if it was a 2010 or 2011 but i believe was the 2.2 litre diesel 2 wheel drive. had the pleasure of driving it and it was very comfortable and had loads of low end torque. went over a couple of of broken roads and it felt very secure. liked everything actually, apart from the vague, light steering! should be a beauty to travel long distances in.

  13. True, some people make mistaken accusations. I wish they didn't disrespect the other party. There is a far more civilized way of settling it instead of with comments.People should be treated with respect & not be hit down immediately when they get an inkling.Would you put up with such people and not retaliate if someone disrespected you, especially when in comes to something that matters? Of course not.Buying a vehicle is a serious financial matter.I would just like people to put valid comments that is useful & not render it redundant like it has become now.

  15. Yes, I have noticed this many times. He's a pretentious douche trying to look smart by picking on newbies who can't express themselves fluently in the English language. The condescending attitude is no surprise since he clearly have his head so far up his arse. So, as others jump in and say, newbies have to "man up and suck it all up". It's funny how quickly people forget that at one time they were new to this stuff too. English and cars. Some people have been doing this stuff for a long time than others. Many of you know about cars to a far far greater length than me. There are people with varying degree of fluency in this public forum. To be a moderator, you have to have a thick skin. You have to tolerate bullshit more. If you're not willing to do that, stop putting "it's not THE car, it's A car" type of crapasstic comments. Everyone can see that. And Peri, I'm not writing this to piss you off. Don't jump on people on their 1st or 2nd post. You can certainly warn and then ban people if they're doing excessive advertising or doesn't comply with forum rules. And VVTi, this time I do have my diaper and ice in my vagina. Tis all good dude.

  16. I've been hearing there were major faults in the US sold Sorento. The transmission is a complete failure.Just making sure that the Korean manufactured sorento dosen't carry the same trait. Besides you are very rude and vain. Of course when one is interested in a particular vehicle one has every right to find out all pros and cons of a prospective vehicle.Of course I hope there would never be problems with this SUV.Because I'm considering buying it!!!!
