  1. DIY Glove boxes When I bought the car there were no original glove boxes. So decided to make by myself as a DIY task in the post corona period. Here are some images of it. Used a thin Aluminum sheet as the base metal. The size for one glove box is 36"x8".

  2. Update : Repairing the gearbox The second gear popped out several times while carrying the car to home. Also 1st gear had a bad noise. So decided to open the box and check. This is my first experience of repairing a gearbox. So went through the workshop manual few times before try it. But it was not that much complex as I thought . Above images are the initial status of gearbox. Firstly noticed that there was very low oil amount inside it while manual says its 1.3 liters. The speedometer cable & drive pinion was missing and that could be the reason to fill oil partially. These pictures shows casing, rare cover, second motion shaft, three shifter shafts & gear selectors. Replaced the first motion shaft razor RLS 8. All other parts was in good shape. But there was enough dirt inside the box. So cleaned everything and washed with kerosene oil. Finally could not find packing set even from S**ana motors, Panchikawatta. So had to prepare all packing myself.

  3. First of all, Sri Lanka is NOT the land of honking. If you think that's the case, you haven't been to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Vietnam or any other Asian country, even Thailand for that matter. Honking is relatively less in Sri Lanka compared to most of our neighbours. I am not promoting honking at all. I don't want morons who sit in front of a computer to tell the whole world that we are worst at something when we are really not. Secondly, it is very unethical to blatantly copy-paste tonnes of text. I would say it's more unethical than honking at random.

  6. Hey Matroska. It’s nice to see another EP71 user in the forum. I’ve been using one since 2007. Though I have used one EP82 and couple of EP91s the Boxy was the one fascinated me most so I was eyeing for a one for some time. Since my preference was a two door car with reasonable body shape finally settled for an EP76 van for 475000. Sadly cars of those kinds are now in the hands of people who couldn’t afford for the required maintenance. So mine was of the same. Bringing in it to a standard of my choice was actually a painful and time and consuming job but I enjoyed every step of that. So I hope we can share the experiences in restoration. Happy motoring in a nippy starlet Cheers

  8. First of all, Tarragon is a car sale guy. Obviously the review will be targeted at peddling overpriced pieces of sh*t like Premio and Allion. Like any car sale guy's review, it will not contain any technical depth or knowledge about the actual Japanese market (like irage pointed out). Buyers have much better options than Premios and Allions for 7.5 mn price range. So car sale guys are desperately looking for fools to sell the allions and premios.

  11. Isn't it nice when you have some kind of AV system installed already when u r spending more than 7Mil? Its up to the user to get it changed or keep it as it is. its not something that car sellers has to decide, these are all marketing gimmicks made by car sellers. Good old days we got some really good AV systems like pioneer carrozzerias. BTW, this is not a forum like elakiri, people here knows and has some taste on good vehicles.

  13. Am an outdoor kinda person who likes to travel, this curfew was killing me so bad that I have been using the Samurai to go down to the the adjoining land. This helps the vehicle have a bit of running and for me to enjoy. So I thought of doing a video of it going through some obstacles. Sadly couldnt get more videos as I was relying on a cinnamon bush to hold the phone.

  18. Wow! These techs are like from out of this world. I can't recall these even existed in the past decade or will exist in the near future. Maybe that's why these cars are so expensive, even close to a brand new Audi A4 or a BMW 3 series. Keep it up your good work fellas. By the way it's too bad to hear that they dropped Premio G Superior package. As I heard there's no such grade for 1.5L version, but comes with1.8 L version. But Toyota Japan specially manufacture these 1.5L G Superior version for Sri Lankan millionaires( redi mudalalis) who are so concerned about saving some fuel on their daily 5km cruise to their business place a.K.a.redi kade.

  21. Parts from Perth? That`s great.! I know there`s a small Datto community here, quite a few 1200`s (batu sunny), 1200 utes, 1600`s, Z`s etc... 1600 (Bluebird) prices are through the roof these days, nothing decent for less than 20k AUD.! 120y`s (b211) and b310`s come up for sale from time to time. They are still relatively cheap.. Let me know if you want me to follow something up with a seller here etc...

  23. @fiat fan @Kavvz that's SL alright, near the walking path behind the parliament, there's a hospital there as well, pretty beautiful, there's a junction with an Army run shop and across the road people set up shops (inside their cars) and sell stuff. I'm bad at explaining where it is so here's a link https://goo.gl/maps/bDykrNshfCg9WbGR7 Roads around the parliament are perfect for flooring it ?

  26. hi machan. as much as it looks lovely there, the paint wasn't right. had to get the black accents done later on the front and rear bumpers. she's pending a full paintjob anyways. apart from that the honda is more or less done. i'm toying about with an idea for a digital dash, but that's it for now. it just runs, and i'm happy with it doing just that. the datsun is finished too. just some final touches on it. i mean they never really finish do they? its getting a new clutch etc but the shipment is stuck with kapruka global shop and isn't looking pretty at the moment. meanwhile i have the don's cars to take care of as well, so hands are full of 510's these days. loving every moment of it. cheers man!

  29. I swear I was checking out some FD4s on the adsites when I heard the notification bell. I'd love a Euro Sedan any day (406, Jetta MK5, E46, W124, you name it). It's just that maintaining one from our area is a bit of an exercise. For now, we have to stick to japs, not like that's a bad thing. Also, I'd say any econobox is in vain for us Kanda uda guys. 1.15 hours and that too without a fine? I'm seriously impressed. FD1s seem like a bargain now, maybe because of the 1.8 that disappoints the Thel worshippers. For now I'll stick to jangis. Easier to get away trouble-free & complaint free. Not like I can attract lankets in a honda anyway.

  30. Body filling was the next step. Unfortunately I have only few pictures of this step. Anyhow followed the above video instructions throughout the filling process. Additionally applied putty on top of filled areas and small scratches. After all preparation applied the primer coat. Below images are after sanding the primer coat.

  31. True - mine's SR too and really the interior is a dirt magnet plus the fabric on the seats are pretty abrasive. Yeah - I actually did that thanks to a post in the Civic FB group. I love the directions on the meter cluster too

  32. Nice write up ? Mine crossed the 6K mark as well. All in all I'm happy with the buy considering the feature set for the price paid. in addition, some of the things I noticed Rapid de-acceleration from 70 to 0 triggers some type of collision preparation mode, the hazards came on automatically (allegedly the brake lights blink as well, this is according to a friend, could not verify as I was driving) A friend had the AC evaporator getting punctured after a cruise down the express way at 100. Apparently this is a design defect. Had the TPMS playing havoc a couple of times, but no issues after recalibration. My guess is, the TPMS works by measuring the rotations ( ABS sensor data) as the valves in the Civic look like the normal ones. The plain cloth interior (mine is an SR) needs a fair amount of TLC especially if you have kids who didn't financially contribute when you bought the car. Consumption ranges between 7-8.5 kmpl with Eco and Auto Off. The car is mainly used for the school run Had the first puncture, fixed it with the trusty Stop & Go Tire Repair kit. (Luckily I invested in a jack and a spare wheel) Updated the garmin maps a couple of time just for kicks, worked each time like a charm. Love the directions appearing in the center of the dashboard. Had a motor cyclist knock the right side mirror. The upper part of the cover came off but no clips were broken so it went back in with a little persuasion. Again, luckily, the paint protecting wrapping did it's job.

  33. @Magnum today I got a chance to drive a KDH205(correct me if the code is wrong) which is 3000cc and fully loaded with climate control ac. I'm really impressed how this babe perform as a van!! I never thought that I would love to drive a van. But my mind totally changed after driving it. I totally agree with every detail you provided in the review. Really comfortable in long journeys. It's not comfortable as a car, but there is a totally different way how a Hiace handles the potholes or bumps: It just gives a boat like feeling when hitting a pothole, softening the sudden impact. This is totally different from a Hilux. And man the engine is a devil on mountains. I did a few risky overtakes on a hilly road and this babe pulled like a demon. Really impressed how she performed as a van. Would really love to drive something like an Alphard.

  36. the fact that you can take criticism (constructive or otherwise) hopefully is a sign that you (even if you are a car salesman) are sincerely trying to achieve something more than just peddling off cars. So I will continue to give you the benefit of the doubt.

  37. It is really impressive to see the interest within you for the content and thank you so much for these genuine, factful feedbacks and criticisms. This is a real push to figure out how the future work should be carried out. Our target is to make information available organized. There what we realized with these expert ideas is that the information should be related to different levels of justifications which would match all the levels of knowledge and expertise that the readers possess. This is just a beginning, meaning we can enhance but you are the drive force. Thanks again and keep in touch. Let's grow together...

  38. Not true...like I mentioned in my previous comment...please do your research when stating facts and figures (which apparently have disappeared again) if you want credibility from actual car enthusiasts. Toyota had the G Superior and G grades only for the 2.0L variant NOT even for the 1.8L variant as you have mentioned. With the current facelift I believe the 2.0L now comes with G and G Ex Package. I am not sure if you have noticed, but Toyota is trimming down the grade variation for the two models (in the Premio you will notice that 1.8L grades and 1.5L grades have overlap)...that is their typical strategy for phasing out the model (in lieu for a new model or a complete exit) As for the 1.5L G Superior... the Premio dealership line (Toyopet stores) did offer an official "G Superior" package as a dealer option package for the 1.5L variant. So whilst on paper the 1.5Ls were F grade you could get an official Toyota dealership G Superior accessories package on it. Granted these options were merely cosmetic and were far less than what you would get in the actual 2.0L G Superior and G grades. To be fair to your statement....yes true...there is a strong possibility that our devious and loving car sales people (and I am sure most of them did) just made up their own "G Superior" packages for the 1.5L.
