Congratulations! That is indeed a lovely vehicle to have. I believe its running L200 running gear? I wouldnt mind getting one but seems the prices have gone up drastically during the last year or so. Careful on taking bends too fast because of the high center of gravity than a double cab or SUV. Change the wheels, try to get an original set or get some steel wheels and remove that hood rack. BTW does it have the full rotating seats and the cool box at the front? One of my uncles had one (not in good condition) I dont know why he bought it in SL as he is in Qatar and never had plans to come back. I never saw it but believe it had the full glass roof and the works, sold it off sometime back as his bro in law couldnt maintain it and it was rusting he never asked me to look after it 😪. I have three such uncles who dont do the right thing. One is the former and then there is the elder one who lives in the US and wants to maintain a Humber Hawk in SL (now its rusted to the metal, last time I asked he said he was doing a proper restoration and wanted me to go hunting for parts cars.) Only reason he says he wants to keep it is because queen Elizabeth had given it to Sri Lanka 🤷♂️. He had a VW beetle and he told me to rescue it when it was too far gone. And the other has been a MINI lover had a MINI rusting at home for close to 20 years and sold it off when he moved houses, in the meantime troubled me to take him hunting for MIN's which I did and got him one which I did the required repairs and handed back to him, never took it out from home for once or twice (in 2 years). I told my mom that I am not going to help them again.- 2 replies

Corolla 141 engine rebuild or replace
Sahan Dissanayake replied to Sahan Dissanayake's topic in TOYOTA
That is a great thread. I think I have the same issue, Trying to contact that mechanic to repair mine. The cost would be more than 300,000 with the current situation I guess. -
Corolla 141 engine rebuild or replace
Sahan Dissanayake replied to Sahan Dissanayake's topic in TOYOTA
I second that! They are always trying to make it so simple and make money out of it. I also found this video that is exactly what you guys are saying about the used engine. But I have no idea about the liquid chemical they used to clean the engine out. I recently tried keeping my engine at 5000 RPM and saw the car exhaust fume is visible and the color is white and blue and smells different. Probably that is kind of a sign for oil burning. I did not get the PCV valve checked yet, I am waiting until I find a good person to do it. I am living in Matara, But it does not matter I can take my vehicle anywhere if a good mechanic is found. Oil burning is approximately 1ml per kilometer. -

A decent car costs around 3.5 million at maximum
matroska replied to YW Creations Y Studio's topic in General Automotive
Nissan Sunny FB15 - common car, Nissan prices have not skyrocketed as opposed to other brands. Common car with ample parts availability. Fairly comfortable, and not bad-looking (personal opinion) For your need this is the simplest and most painless option. Get a mechanic or a dedicated place to examine the car. Do some bargaining your budget should be enough. Resale should not be an issue either. An EX-Saloon (grade) with the 'old shell' should set you back around 3.2 Mill at max. Keep some cash for any repairs (car is around 25 years old now) and you're good to go. A manual would be possible. Auto's are touching 4 Mill now and some of them are converted (and prone to issues)- 7 replies

Okay...so about the Geely recommended above....good if you can find a good car. Most of them are rattly and rusting out. Euro cars...depending on where you are you might find it challenging to maintain. Where are you ? Plus...Euro cars are a committed relationship. So unless you are willing to have a committed relationship you are going to be miserable. So...I am going to suggest the usual Japanese cars. Now...a Japanese car (especially if you find an immaculate example) can be like the school-time lifelong love affair with the girl next door or be as quick and raunch as a night with lady of the night (that comes with similar risks as well). 1. Toyota: T2xx series Corona Premio (1.6L) and Carina (1.5L). Good ones hardly come up for sale and when they do they are advertised more towards 4mil for a Carina. The Corona Premio is significantly cheaper. Looked at a few for a friend over the last few weeks and the Coronas were in better shape than the Carinas too. They do exist if you are willing to be patient. I would not bother wasting my time looking at Corollas/Sprinters (sedans and wagons) because 99% of them are garbage and over priced. Only time I would look at one is if something exceptional pops up and literally falls on to my lap. Cars like the Mark II, Chaser, etc...will be significantly over your budget. 2. Nissan: Honestly, I cannot think of any other than a Sunny FB15 (I personally find this the better option compared to a Corolla of the same generation). Again...hard to find a decent model. A Primera would be the most comfy...but again...a lot have been abused by wannabe racer boys. Cars like Glorias/Cedrics are now quite expensive because people want to buy them for "modification". Bluebirds, Cefiros, etc......again...most have been poorly maintained and have plenty of hidden gremlins lurking inside. 3. Honda: You are limited to the likes of Civics. Again...wouldn't bother chasing one down unless something exceptional drops on your lap. Fits are almost the same. 4. Mazda and Mitsubishi: The usual suspects...Axela/3 and the Lancer. Good ones are held on to by owners like gold and when they come up for sale, they disappear in no time. Most are pretty average but would be in significantly better shape than a Corolla. If you are into hatchbacks, the Demio is also a decent option. So... looking at the above.... I would say.... you are 26. Make your money go further. If you can find a Peugeot 406 in good shape. Go for it. Build a love affair. Yes, they are cars that your neighbors/friends and kade' mudalali will envy you over because "market naha", but you buy low and you sell it off at a decently depreciated price (provided you take care of it). If you are worried about going for a Euro...well you have an idea of the common Japanese options. Finally..don't max out your budget on buying the car itself. If the maximum amount of money you can spare is 3.5mil...then you should aim for a car that is about 3mil and keep at least 500,000 for post-purchase preemptive maintenance and repair work that will come up as you start using the car.- 7 replies

Hi @AVANTE I saw you comprehensive answer on Peugeot 406. So I submit a question and if you could, could you have a look on my post(· 0 replies
) I would like to have your opinion on that. So my obvious choice was Peugeot 406 D9 diesel one. but what i heard was, probability of some one selling it due to considerable issues, and it has hard time of reselling and repairing and spare pats finding and cost may considerably high. Seeking advice on this.
Thank you

Chinese are going to take over the automobile industry for sure. Tesla who was considered ground braking is shying away from the promised small EV and moving to Taxi cars as the competition is too strong. Then comes Chery with this small EV SUV. Looks like a Mini G Class / Jimny but is fully electric.· 4 replies

Interior Specialists? Every time I go over some bumps my seats squeak quite loudly and there is a massive rattle of a nail undone coming from inside the dashboard, anybody got any suggestions I could go to? My usual mechanic just said "turn the radio up"· 2 replies

I was watching a Yangwang U8 struggling to make it up a muddy hill on Youtube. I was wondering why cant an EV be more capable off road than an ICE vehicle. Given the fact that this behemoth has 4 individual motor on each wheel it should be able to direct power to the wheel that has more grip and stop power to the slipping wheel. Cant be rocket science right?· 3 replies
